Mortal Kombat:

Mileena's Reign

Four thousand years passed since the defeat of Shao Kahn. The warriors of the tenth Mortal Kombat tournament had been long deceased including the reigning champion, Liu Kang. With only Raiden keeping order amongst the realms, hope for a better era looked bleak. Raiden had lost almost all faith in the Elder Gods until Shao Kahn was finally defeated for dishonoring the rules of Kombat, set by the Elder Gods to give the other realms a fighting chance for their freedom.

After the death of her 'father', Mileena became Empress of Outworld. To those who were loyal to the late Emperor, Mileena was a hero, taking her fathers place and keeping some sort of chaotic order to the realm. She was to greet her subjects and provide them with confirmation of the Emperor's death, along with the 'lesser' fatalities.

Baraka, her faithful Tarkatan counterpart had kept Mileena's army in tact as their general. Mileena found herself growing rather fond of the hideous general. Often greeting him with pet names such as "Baky". Though she had enjoyed his aid in her reign, he did not compare to her true male attraction, the powerful and vengeful Scorpion.

Mileena could not be with her unofficial love because she was already promised to another. In exchange for his aiding her in protecting and keeping her throne she had promised to make Baraka her king. A vow so devastating, they had been the only two in the Empire to know of the cursed truce for fear of retaliation of her subjects.

Although Mileena seemed all-powerful at the time, she would soon see just how vulnerable she truly was...

MORTAL KOMBAT:

Quan Chi

She would stare down a long corridor. Dark and with an eerily comforting sense of evil, the entire castle matched it. She could see the outline of a woman amongst the shadows. This cannot be... She thought to herself. She started towards the shadowed figure before being stopped by a rasped voice requesting her attention.

"Empress." Mileena turned her attention away from the corridor and to her throne. As she sat, she stared at the 'man' standing before him. His presence utterly disgusted her, yet he was a so-far faithful ally. "Quan Chi." She said, attempting to hide the repulse in her voice.

"Empress, I offer my sincerest apologies for your loss." Quan Chi said in a rather un-apologetic tone. Mileena turned her head to look back down the corridor. The shadowed figure had vanished by now. Mileena gasped slightly before returning her attention to Quan Chi.

His pasty and painted skin seemed dull under the torch lights of the room. "Thank you, sorcerer." She nodded to him slightly, growing impatient. "How may I assist you, Quan Chi?"

Quan Chi grinned to the Empress. "I wish to show you an item of interest." He slowly reaches behind him as he pulls out a small holster, silvery in color. Mileena sat up, holding onto the arm rests of the throne, staring at the sorcerer with attentively.

The guards of the castle shuffled as they clutched onto their weapons, ready to defend and protect their Queen. Quan Chi paused before looking to Mileena as if asking for permission to continue. Mileena raised her brow then nodded towards the guards to let him continue.

Mileena stared at the sorcerer sturdily, almost afraid of what would be inside of the holster. Quan Chi moved closer to her throne and bent down onto his knee, holding the silver holster up to his Queen. She slowly took it from him and stared at its markings. All too familiar... She thought.

She grinned widely beneath her magenta veil. "Well done, sorcerer. I didn't expect you to return to Outworld so quickly and much less with it in tact." Mileena raised her hand, giving Quan Chi permission to rise. "How will you-" Mileena spoke before pausing.

Mileena stood from her throne as amusement had become visible in the features on her face. Her golden eyes grew brighter, her brow high and calm before returning to distress. She stared back down the corridor, searching for the shadow she was sure she had seen earlier, studying the darkness. She saw the intruders shadow again, attempting to blend into the shadows of the banners hung from the walls.

"Empress." Quan Chi stood from his knee, returning the holster to the leather satchel strapped to his pale back. She growled under her breath before turning her attention back to Quan Chi. "How did you find it?" Mileena asked. Her enthusiasm in the silver holster audible in her tones.

"My sources have been careful to track this down since Raiden's victory in Earth Realm." Quan Chi responded, his voice calm and deep as always. Mileena thought for a moment before nodding slowly. "Give my thanks to your 'sources', Quan Chi. We will reconvene later. For now, I have an unwanted pest to be rid of."
