What else is there to say?
Edward had once said to Bella that he could never be surprised. So, she'd made it her ultimate goal for the day. But, at the moment, it was still true, and she had tried everything.
Jumping out and yelling, "BOO!" didn't work, painting his car pink hadn't worked...even getting Alice to jump out at him didn't work.
But, she had one more thing left to try.
She was hidden by his door, on the side where it opened, curled up on his bedside table and giggling to herself as she heard him call, "Al, has Bella gone home with Jasper?"
"No, Jasper's still here, but Bella went."
"Oh." Bella had deliberately not said goodbye, so as to distract him by making him wonder why.
She struggled not to laugh as she heard his light footsteps climbing the stairs, and she got ready as his doorknob turned. Edward opened the door and she struck, jumping at him, wrapping her legs around his hips and kissing him, as hard as she could.
Edward gasped against her lips and promptly fell over, hitting the floor with a thud with her on top of him. She pulled away before he could wrap his arms around her and grinned as evilly as she could.
"Surprise!"
