The Phantom of the Opera:
A New Song, A New Beginning
~Prologue~
Christine is gone, the only one who made my songs take wind, the only one whom I ever loved. She betrayed me, left me for a man who she was bound to love. I guess, I will always be aloneā¦
Erik walked through the dark alley, alone, and homeless. The only home he ever had was gone and he could never return. Never. Erik continued down the alley, silent and deep in thought. All of a sudden he heard a sound from behind he whirled around to find someone was following close behind.
"Whose there?" Erik demanded. The figure stepped away from the shadows, it was an old man, who looked frail and tired, his long snow white hair glistened in the moonlight as his gray eyes and he wore a deep dark suit.
"Messieurs, you are the Phantom, no?" he asked softly. Erik scoffed after him and turned to continue walking, "Wait Messieurs, please listen, I am a wealthy man, and I have no children or relatives left. I use to be a great composer but my body just doesn't work like it use to, I will be leaving this world very soon and today I came to see a great performance and heard all about the mysterious Phantom, your music, your voice is beautiful, but what I'm trying to say is, after what happened tonight, I know you no longer have anywhere else to go, no one else to sing to, so take up my offer and come to live with me, work for me and help me compose a few more songs and when I pass away, you will inherit a great fortune beyond your wildest dreams." Erik stood quiet, his back still towards him. He didn't have anywhere else to go, nothing to do for the rest of eternity, what did he have to lose?
"I will take up your offer, only if, you call me by my real name, Erik." Erik turned to him and noticed that not once did the old man flinch at his appearance. The man bowed his head.
"Of course, Messieurs Erik and I am Monsieur Thomas Bernard Jacques at your service," he bowed again.
"On the contrary Monsieur, I am at your service," Erik bowed. Jacques smiled in content.
"Come, my carriage awaits us," Jacques said pulling out a shining silver pocket watch and opening it, he looked over the time and motioned me to follow and I did. What new adventures will be bestowed upon me? Erik walked along side Jacques through the stillness of the night.
