My first Gintama fanfiction and it's of two of the least seen characters- Zenzo and Okuni. (Well... Okuni was only in one episode/chapter but it's my all time favorite. And well Zenzo is well known so I guess it's not too correct. Oh well.) Not to mention it's something sad. I am an awful person.

She sits there on the roof staring down at the street just like the old days. Only this time there is no box of pizza or a pile of manga next to her. There is no shaggy looking man dressed in blue and his voice isn't there- talking about cats and dogs and what job he has to fill next.

Instead there is the wind and the rush of people below, none of them looking up to see her, they never see her. They don't care to see her.

In the distance she could see the smoke rising from the newly built Amanto buildings and she could see the cars whizzing back and forth on the newly built highway. Little by little the city is losing it's old wood buildings and being replaced by stone. It's only a matter of time until her temple ends up the same way.

Down below she spots a red umbrella being carried by a red headed girl as she walks hand in hand with a milk tea blond male and two children following behind. She knew the kids were going to grow healthy even if they didn't come to ask. She saw it. She saw everything like she always did. Like she always used to. Maybe like she always will.

She doesn't bother calling down below to them because she knows she'll be ignored. She always is and she always will be. Nobody needs her anymore. Nobody cares anymore.

Slowly she moves to stand up so she could go back down and into her room. Night was approaching already and she knew that he wasn't going to come. There was no use waiting for him though she couldn't bring herself to stop waiting. After tonight, she knew, there was going to be no chance of him coming back to their meeting spot. He was recklessly going into a battle that they both knew he wouldn't win.

Ever since that day he had been like that. Getting jobs that would hurt him and possibly kill him. Going into some battles completely drunk and coming out with only an inch of his life left. If only he came to visit then she would tell him that her death wasn't his fault. That it was the way it was supposed to happen.

If only he came to visit then she would try and tell him that she died so he could live and it hurt her to see him wasting away.

If only he came to visit then he wouldn't die tonight and he would be surrounded by his friends and the family that he could have had without her.

She climbs off of the roof just like the old days. And just like in those days she feels empty and all alone because he would be leaving. Except now there was never a chance that he would be coming back.
