Ça Suffit!

I am going to tell them.

I am going to tell them.

I am going to tell them.

Canada's chest puffed out with a sudden sense of pride and determination. He felt an odd sense of dignity despite his planned outburst.

I deserve better. To be seen, to be heard, to have them know my name… Yes! Yes, I want that. I deserve that.

He could feel himself stand taller. He looked about with an air that could be considered somewhat confident. It could all be within his touch if he just made himself known.

I don't want their apologies (though that would be nice).

I don't want their promises (they are always empty).

I don't want them to go back to ignoring me (and this time, they won't).

He halted. His eyes were bright with anticipation. Matthew pivoted on his heel and faced the doors. He was on time: perfectly on time.

You always call me back with your apologies. No more! I don't need this abuse – yes, abuse – because that's what it is when they neglect you, abandon you and call you back – lighting false hope – just as you're making your announcement that it's over and you won't come back! Then everything goes back to neglect and hopeless – that! That is emotional abuse – and you know you won't change when you apologise!

This time…

This time you will listen to me!

The light poured through the windows in streams of silver upon a bronze and polished table… an empty bronze and polished table.

All of the bravado and adrenaline jerked to a halt. His jaw fell slightly slack.

"America? What are you doing here?" England stopped by the doorway. "Didn't I leave you with France?"

Canada whirled around. "I'm not America-"

England frowned. "What do you mean? Who else could you be?"

France's haughty laugh rang out from the other direction. "Stupid little England. Can't you tell? That is… Canada."

"Ah…" England peered at Canada. "You are Canada. Sorry about that. I-"

"Of course, you would forget," France chortled.

A verbal storm exploded between the nations.

Canada trembled, furious. "I am Canada! I deserve to be recognised!"

Both nations turned and glanced about almost conspiratorially.

England was the first to speak. "Did you hear that?"

France smirked. "No. Was it one of your imaginary friends?"

Canada sighed.

Stupid Canada, what did you think would happen?

Author's Note: I was rather at a loss for ideas and then… Oh, dear Canada, how well my outburst suits you. If I could, I would travel to your place and keep you company. At the very least, we could be neglected by our peers together.
