They were in love,
all stars and candles.
What they didn't know,
was that love never lasts.
They became obsessed,
never really separated.
Their lives fell apart,
and they still clung together.
She got the call,
that fateful night.
He called to say he was sorry,
he told her he loved her.
He said to stay safe,
he begged her never to forget him.
Then the click,
she knew he was gone.
Leaving her behind.
Now she knows why,
and realizes,
love never lasts.
