Title: We Started Out Friends
Ship: Pizes
Rating: T for language and brief mention (though no direct description) of smut
Summary: Set in Season 3, after Puck and Lauren broke up, they started secretly dating.
Spoilers: Uhhh none I think?
AN: This is just a drabble, a brief little scene that popped into my head that someone on Tumblr (pizesshipperalways) suggested :) I'm definitely gonna do more with this in the future though!
"Just one date. Please."
"No."
"Why the hell not?"
Lauren sighed and looked up at the boy from her book. "We've gone over this, Puckerman," she said with a roll of her eyes. "You aren't even supposed to be talking to me right now." She looked back at her book and pretended to be invested in reading, rather than with the guy sitting across from her.
Puck stared at Lauren, his lips pressed into a tight line. "What about what you said in the closet yesterday? Or did you forget that?"
Lauren quickly looked around the library to make sure no one was listening, then narrowed her eyes and leaned over the table. "You mean the 'fuck me harder' or the 'god yes right there'?" she asked snidely.
Puck shook his head. "Don't give me that bullshit, Zizes," he said. "I'm talking about the 'I love you' and you know it." He stared at her with a mix of anger and sadness. "I just don't get why you'll tell me you love me one minute, then act like you don't know me the next. It's the same shit Quinn pulled with me."
"Do not compare me to Fabray," she said. "I told you. I just...need time to figure stuff out okay?" She looked back at her book and Puck leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms in front of himself. "Leave me alone, Puckerman," she said without looking up.
"No," Puck retorted. "Not until you tell me why you had me jumping through hoops to get with you last year, dumped me like last week's garbage, then wanted to hook up behind the scenes."
Lauren slammed her book shut. "You should be thankful I let you get up on this at all!" she hissed. "I'm the highest ranked high school wrestler in the Midwest and you're just a loser baby daddy with a Mohawk. I've got offers for full-ride scholarships from universities all over the country. What do you have besides pool cleaning and show choir?"
"God damnit Lauren!" Puck shouted. "Don't sit there and act like you're better than me!" The librarian hurried over and tried to shush the two, but Lauren just stood and stormed past her. "Don't walk away from me Zizes!" Puck exclaimed as he followed her out to the hallway. "You can run from everything else, but you don't you dare run from me!"
Lauren spun around. "Was that a threat?" she asked firmly, glaring at Puck.
"Don't be stupid," Puck replied. "Of course not. But you run when things start to get good, and I won't let you throw us away. Especially for some bullshit excuse like you thinking I'm not good enough for you. That's not who you are."
"I don't run from anything," she said, but Puck caught the way her voice faltered at the end.
He scoffed and glared at the girl. "You stood me up on our first date. You quit glee club after not even a full year. Youre literally walking away from us again. When things start looking good, you run. You deflect. But Lauren..." Puck rubbed his face and shook his head. "You mean too fucking much for me to just let you throw us away again."
The bell rang and students started filling the halls. "I have to get to class," Lauren said softly, turning from Puck.
"Lauren," he called, "You know I-"
"Don't, Puck."
"Me too."
