Sora had a very bad attitude when it came to Xehanort on a good day, so overhearing Riku telling him: "Xe-Xe, I love you," in the hallway of Kingston High, Sora was so far beyond pissed, a word should have been made up for the feeling of hatred he harbored for the Senior. He even had the nerve to hold Riku's hand in the hallway. If that wasn't going to sick every bully in the school on him, Sora didn't know what would. Of course, Sora would have been right about that, if it were any other person. But no one messed with Xehanort and there was definitely no one who would mess with his friends, on the few occasions he had any.
But Sora was new to Kingston, so when even Seifer didn't do anything, Sora was beyond perplexed. If it were Roxas and Axel -as it usually was- he would have been all over it. Less than a couple hours later, that theory was proven for the millionth time.
Sora honestly didn't know what had happened to their little group. Why it was suddenly just him and Kairi at their table and why Riku felt so profoundly for the man who was a recent development to Riku's life. But there was a good reason why, and it's about it unfold.
When Sora finally found Riku after school, he found that the two were alone as he wanted them to be. Xehanort found an amused smirk and pulled Riku to himself by the hip, the actions that would have angered him to no end on their own infuriating him past infinity in a combo.
He struggled to find his words finally settling on: "What's with you, Riku?"
"What, because I'm happy now, that means something's wrong?" he countered, coolly.
"You were happy with us, Riku."
"Past tense and completely inaccurate. I was happy with you, Sora. When Kairi came, she ruined that and when you pursued a relationship with her, it was over."
Xehanort cut in. "I'm very sorry for the loss of your best friend, but I'm also very not sorry he has me now." And Xehanort led Riku away from the scene that had attracted a bit of attention, Sora feeling dejected and Riku feeling empowered. He'd given up on Sora long ago, but with his boyfriend, he was finally able to move past it.
