Prologue
Justin Lowell sat glaring at the wall with his arms crossed. In a matter of days, his life had changed drastically. His father was arrested on drug charges and his part in the drug ring, as well as for the abuse he'd forced upon his son. The abuse that Bo and Nora had listened in on a couple of weeks ago. Now here he was, about to be sent off to a foster home. He'd heard and read all about the horror stories of the foster care system. About the people who were only in it for the money they received for taking in abandoned kids that noone wanted.
"Justin?" The kindly voice of his case worker, Anne said behind him.
He turned his head and looked up at her. "What?" He asked rudely, giving her the most hateful look that he could possibly manage, falling short.
"We've found you a foster parent. She should be here on Friday." Anne told him simply, pity in her eyes.

Meanwhile, in Washington, DC, Temperance Brennan sat in her office at the Jeffersonian looking through foster care papers. She had yet to tell Booth or Angela or anyone for that matter what she was doing. To be honest, she didn't know how they would react to her taking in a fifteen year old foster kid. Especially one who had as many issues as the boy she was going to be taking in apparently did. She'd seen his file and had read the information on him. His dad was abusive and involved with a drug ring in the town that they lived in, his mother had apparently died just a couple of years ago and he himself, had been caught trying to buy drugs from a guy who was undercover for the cops.
As if hearing her thoughts, Seeley Booth stepped inside the room and walked over to her leaning against her desk. His charm smile was firmly and place. "Hey Bones. Want to head over to the diner?" He asked, brown eyes falling on the papers that she was trying to stack back into a neat pile. His eyes widened when he saw exactly what those paper's were for and he slowly raised them to meet her blue ones. "You're taking in a foster kid?" His voice dripped with disbelief.
