Hide-And-Seek
Prompt: "I look at the starlight I am shattered by the night. Always run where I can and I hide where I wanna hide." - Uh Huh Her, Wait Another Day
She knows how to get to him, how to make it all feel decent again. There is no hole, no missing face and voice, no reason for him to think. It's just a myriad of emotion, a vast amount of unprecedented, unnamed color blocking out the rest. She doesn't hold him; she sets him free. There are no wings, but he soars. Everything that he is, and has become, is his own to control. And he turns it over to her all the same.
She is smooth, warm, even a little vulgar in the way she plays, but it means something now. It's not another game of tag wherein he can try to beat her into the dust. It's a game at which he excells, but she beats him here, too.
The way she makes him feel, her touch like the cool sting of a blade, isn't foreign. He knows it well, the bite, but she has ways of heightening the euphoria. Perhaps it's her eyes, leering at him from the dark, or her scent, like the pine of the Rukon forests.
She says that he hides; that he needs to be taught to open up again. When she does, he's bothered by this, by the intimacy of what they've become. He would rather have this with Hisana, something sacred between them, but she is no more. She can't come back. He knows she's right; that he's been waiting for a rising sun that will never come again. He did what he could to keep it safe, to keep it his own, but the world has it's ways of playing cruel tricks on the minds of man.
He can never do this without thinking of her, even if it's once.
In a sense, he's a lost cause. Broken by night, whole and proud by day. But she can see through him. With this feral woman, there is nowhere for him to hide. She knows his tricks, the whereabouts of his secluded little hideouts.
He can run as much as he likes, but she will always find him.
