Blazekit opened up her light green eyes. look out, world. Ready or not, here I come! She thought. It was her fifteenth day with her eyes open. Time to go out into the camp with her sister, Stormkit, and her brother, Flarekit. "Come on, guys! I want to go play in the camp!" She shouted. Flarekit, the shy kit of the litter, shook his golden-orange head. "I think I'll stay for a bit…you guys tell me about it," Blazekit rolled her eyes and ran her tongue over her red-calico pelt. "Do you want to be a strong warrior, or not? C'mon! You can't just not play for the whole moon!" Flarekit just nosed deeper into their mother, Amberlight's fur. Whatever. Flarekit can just stay in here and help out the queens instead of becoming a Warrior like us. "Let's go, Stormkit, Flarekit doesn't have to come.

Blazekit and Stormkit ran out of the wide exit-hole of the ThunderClan Nursery. The sun shimmered high up in the cloudless sky. The large, grassy clearing that was the camp was spread out in front of them. Different dens were all over the camp, although the only one Blazekit recognized was the Leader's Den. It was unmistakable, a wide, black awning surrounded by stone walls. The den sat above the sloping Highledge, where their leader, Wolfstar, addressed the Clan in meetings. "Hey, Blazekit, Stormkit!" Their former denmate, who had become an apprentice about five moons ago, Spottedpaw, trotted over. "Oh, hi, Spottedki—Paw!" She flashed a beautifully colored grey-and-white spotted tail. "Guess what? You won't believe the news I got today!" Blazekit was excited. "What? What?" Spottedpaw smiled. "Wildpaw and I get to become Warriors today when you two become apprentices!" Blazekit smiled. Today would be wonderful!

Wolfstar's voice boomed out over the camp. "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here, beneath the Highledge, for a Clan Meeting!" Even though she wasn't old enough to catch her own prey, Blazekit hurdled into the Clearing. Wolfstar had already begun. "Spottedpaw, Wildpaw, please come forward!" In unison, her friends stepped up. "Spottedpaw, from this day forward, you will be known as Spottedwind! Congratulations!" The crowd of cats responded. "Spotted-wind! Spotted-wind! Spotted-Wind!" Wolfstar flicked her tail, and the crowd quieted down. "Wildpaw, from this moment on, you will be known as Wildheart! Congratulations!" Wolfstar stepped back and gently pushed the new Warriors forward. "Wild-heart! Wild-heart! Wild-heart!" "But," Wolfstar continued. "Let's not forget our new apprentices! Blazekit, Stormkit, Flarekit, step forward, please!" The sisters and brother nervously approached the Highledge. "Flarekit, from this moment on, you will be known as Flarepaw. Are you sure you want to train as a Medicine Cat?" Blazekit and Stormkit gasped. "Y-y-yes" Flarekit muttered," Wolfstar smiled. "Then your mentor is Flowerpetal!" Flowerpetal, the ThunderClan Medicine Cat, approached. Touching noses with Flarepaw, she smiled. "Shh. It's okay!" Wolfstar smiled again. "Snowkit! From this day on, you will be known as Snowpaw. Stormblaze will mentor you," The astonished young warrior came up and touched noses with Snowpaw. "And, finally," The Clan leader meowed. "Blazekit. From this moment on, you will be known as Blazepaw. I will mentor you!" Blazepaw smiled, unable to speak.

When Snowpaw and Blazepaw went to sleep, Blazepaw was happy. She was special. She got to be mentored by the Clan leader!
