Mikan Sakura stared at her lover as he stayed unmoving. In all honesty, she didn't expect this to happen – she didn't expect Natsume would be stupid enough to over exceed himself to an extent that would put him through such a vulnerable state. Her body trembled with fear, with panic, with anger – with every emotion that could withhold inside. With shaking hands, Mikan reach over and placed her hands on his shoulders – clutching it ever so desperately as she shook him frantically.
"Come on, Natsume... Wake up!"
The thought of losing Natsume finally sunk into her brain – finally made her realize that she needs to do something to save him. Mikan took a deep breath and exhale it in Natsume's mouth – transferring oxygen in his body. She placed both of her hands on his chest and pumped it with all her strength. Memories of them together suddenly swarmed through her mind like a movie – she could feel the tears brimming at the corner of her eyes.
"Stay behind me. Don't leave any further forward than me. There's no choice, so I'll protect you. Only this time, don't leave me..."
"Exchanging alice stones? Isn't that a proposal, idiot?"
"The woman I love – as I see her sink in the same darkness that I am in… What damn things that might happen in the future – those thoughts couldn't enter my head right now. The future that you guys want, I don't care about that. From now on, whatever happens… I'll protect this person."
"Actually, until I find that person – I don't want to come back. But I figured you might be here all by yourself crying... So I came."
"Wake up – you nasty fox. You promised you would protect me didn't you? You promised!"
Mikan screamed, pumping his chest with so much force she didn't know she possessed. Her tears flowed freely now – she didn't even bother concealing them. Mikan was so desperate to a point that she would do just anything to get Natsume to open his eyes and smirk cockily like he always does – she held on that false hope that all of this was just a big, fat joke.
However, a part of her – the cynical part of her told her that it was all over, that Natsume was gone, that he will forever vanish from her forever. The thought scared her – it frightens her to an extent that she bit her lower lip so hard that she could feel a liquid dripping. When she touched it – all she saw was smeared crimson and instantly, she knew it was blood.
She shook her head in a frantic manner when Natsume stayed like he was when she first saw him; frigid, unmoving and dead.
Dead.
Dead.
Dead.
Dead.
Dead.
"What the hell are you guys doing? Help him!"
A hand grabbed her from behind then – she turned around unwillingly and saw her best friend, Hotaru. The black haired girl shook her head sadly – despair could be seen in her eyes.
"Mikan… Stop. Natsume – he's gone."
The brunette shook her head – she shook her head in denial, she shook her head disbelievingly. Mikan continued shaking him as she screamed hysterically. A pair of hands grabbed her from behind – she didn't even bother to look, instantly she knew it was Tsubasa-sempai. In any other days she would gladly accept his comfort, but Natsume could die any time right now. So, she shook and struggled – but he had a tight grip on her.
"He's gone Mikan. He's gone!"
Mikan was still then. Slowly, she hugged him back, crying onto his shoulder. Her sobs grew louder as her sempai's words echoed in her mind – telling her that it is real, that he's gone, that... she would never ever get to see him again.
And honestly, Mikan don't know what to do next.
