Yay! My first Fanfic!
Disclaimer: If I owned Percy Jackson, The Mark of Athena wouldn't have ended how it did.
Although I do own my OCs and stuff like that…..
Edit: I'm re writing the earlier chapters (or maybe the whole story?) so they are less crappy, So I hope you like the newer and improved edition of Things I'll Never Say.
Chapter 1: The Beginning
It was a bright sunny day in the middle of August when my life began to change for the better, well it got worse first, but it did eventually get better.
I was sitting on the beach of Camp Half-Blood, listening to the calming sounds of the ocean and feeling the cool breeze on my cheeks when I heard my name being called.
"Annika!" the voice yelled "Annika?!"
I didn't respond right away, closing my eyes and wishing for some peace and quiet.
"Yes?" I murmured reluctantly.
"There you are," the very familiar voice said.
I craned my neck around to see Jayden running up to me, his dirty sneakers sinking into the sand. Reaching me, he put his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath.
"Hey, there you are." He wheezed "I've been looking for you all over the place."
"Sorry," I flushed a little as he swept his shaggy hair out of his dazzling, deep ocean, eyes.
"We're having a singing competition, tonight," he said with that little crazy lopsided grin of his that made my heart race a little.
"Oh, okay," I mumbled awkwardly.
Recently, acting normal had been a little difficult but I was trying for my oldest, best, friend.
"What's wrong?" he asked sitting down beside me and crossing his legs before leaning back on his hands.
I tugged at the ends of my hair and pulled at the hem of my shirt for something to do.
"I-I-It's nothing," I stuttered closing my eyes and trying to get a hold of my emotions.
He gave me a concerned look and reached out to place a hand on my back.
"I-I-I better…um….go," I said nervously standing up, brushing the sand off of my clothes and looking at my feet. I could feel my cheeks turning red.
Control yourself you useless girl! My mother's voice in my head shouted at me.
I took a deep breath, smiled weakly in his direction, before I turned and ran up the sand as quickly as I could without tripping. I traipsed into the forest to cool off.
…
Feeling better and my face no longer a bright flushed mess, I walked back to camp, just in time for the conch horn to sound, signaling dinner.
I was across from my brother Nico at the Hades Table. He looked calm and a little sleepy, his hair falling in his eyes.
"Hey, are you going to sing?" I asked casually, thinking he probably hadn't noticed I was sitting there yet.
He looked up, with an expression and I figured I was right.
"Hey and…sure?" it came out more like a question than a sure statement.
"Cool," I said nodding awkwardly, we had never been incredibly close siblings, I think it's because he and I both had no idea how to act around each other. As well as the fact that we were only half-siblings through a parent with no DNA.
We continued to make awkward small talk until people started to get up and walk to the Amphitheatre for the quasi singing competition.
"I'll see you later; Thalia said she would meet me at the Amphitheatre," said Nico smiling slightly and jogging off.
You see, Nico was sixteen and no longer the Mythomagic obsessed little boy Percy so smugly made him out to be when he was younger. He may be dark and mysterious seeming but I knew enough about him to know that he was sweet and kind.
Thalia had quit the hunt the previous year. The year Nico turned 16. She said that she just missed her friends but I suspected there was an ulterior motive. I wasn't all too sure how my brother felt about her though, although I knew they were great friends.
I smiled gently and maybe a little hesitantly at his retreating figure before I stood to go to the Amphitheatre.
"Annika!" I heard Jayden yell across the pavilion. Several heads turned in my direction.
I really didn't feel like embarrassing myself in front of half the camp so I started walking faster.
"Annika, wait up!" he yelled again
I went faster almost running all the way to the Amphitheatre.
Me being faster than Jayden (although only marginally) I got to the Amphitheatre before him and sat as far away from everyone else as possible.
The Amphitheatre been transformed by the Hephaestus cabin. Now it had a stage with red curtains and speakers all around the Amphitheatre, with a few Apollo kids sitting at different instruments.
I ended up sitting next to the stairs and my old friend Christina Randal, a daughter of Athena. Although she looked more German than Californian which is how all her siblings looked.
She was all pale and sharp angles with her baggy t-shirt and cutoff shorts with her two daggers sheathed in her belt. Her messy, dirty, blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders and I wondered why she never tied it back.
"Hey, Christie," I said quietly.
"Hey Annika," she replied cheerfully, her curls bouncing.
"Where's Chris?" I asked looking around to see if he was around.
Christopher Gilmore was the son of Zeus and one of my oldest friends. They had been dating for a few months now but I knew that she had loved him a lot longer and that he was crazy about her. You didn't exactly have to be Aphrodite to know that these two honestly loved each other. They were like a mellowed out version of Percy and Annabeth.
"I don't know," she said "but if I had to guess I'd say he's performing tonight,"
I nodded as a hush settled over the assembling demigods.
"Hey campers!" said another one of my old friends, the daughter of Apollo, Jade Smith. Although you probably couldn't tell, she may have pale blue eyes but she had brown hair and a smile that made you think she could've been an Aphrodite kid. She was super cheerful all the time because she wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and she was an excellent healer. I knew for a fact though, that she could be very violent when it called for it.
"First up we have…Rhonda Leung!" announced Jade. That kid is seriously too cheery for her own good, the amount of energy going into that attitude must be crippling.
Side note: I hate Rhonda wicked witch Leung. She is an awful spoilt brat that thinks Jayden will be her future husband because he's good looking or something, I have a feeling she just wants to use him for that old initiation thing she heard about in her cabin, ever since she had heard about it, she had been even more intolerable than before.
She sauntered up to the stage in her too short skirt and too tight top and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.
She took the microphone and flashed a million watt smile.
"This is for all the boys," she said sickly sweet, her long shiny candy coloured nails glinting in the sun.
Hot and dangerous
If you're one of us then roll with us
'Cause we make the hipsters fall in love
When we got our hot pants on and up
She sang dancing in what I guess was supposed to be a seductive way, and she sounded like a dying cat that was being tortured and of course her friends were all dressed similarly and danced behind her.
And yes of course we does
We runnin' this town just like a club
And no, you don't wanna mess with us
Got Jesus on my necklace-ace-ace
Got that glitter on my eyes
Stockings ripped all up the side
Looking sick and sexyfied
So let's go, oh, oh, let's go
Tonight, we're going hard, hard, h-h-hard
Just like the world is ours, ours, o-o-ours
We're tearing it apart, part, part, p-p-part
You know we're superstars, we are who we are
We're dancin' like we're dumb, dumb, d-d-dumb
Our bodies going numb, numb, n-n-numb
We'll be forever young, young, y-y-young
You know we're superstars, we are who we are
DJ turn it up
It's about damn time to live it up
I'm sick of being so serious
It's makin' my brain delirious
I'm just talkin' true
I'm tellin' you 'bout the shit we do
We're selling our clothes, sleepin' in cars
Dressin' it down, hittin' on dudes, hard
Got that glitter on my eyes
Stockings ripped all up the side
Looking sick and sexyfied
So let's go, oh, oh, let's go
Tonight, we're going hard, hard, h-h-hard
Just like the world is ours, ours, o-o-ours
We're tearing it apart, part, p-p-part
You know we're superstars, we are who we are
We're dancin' like we're dumb, dumb, d-d-dumb
Our bodies going numb, numb, n-n-numb
We'll be forever young, young, y-y-young
You know we're superstars, we are who we are
DJ turn it up
DJ turn it up
DJ turn it up
DJ turn it up
Tonight, we're going hard, hard, h-h-hard
Just like the world is ours, ours, o-o-ours

As she sung her last warbling note I thanked the gods that it was over, I thought my ear drums were going to burst.
Some of the younger more inexperienced boys whom had only just hit puberty began to cheer loudly, causing her to grin like a cat that caught a canary.
I rolled my eyes.
"Uh…thank you for killing our eardrums," said Jade shoving her down the steps and off the stage.
I almost wanted to laugh at her expression.
"Next we have….."
