Summary: E/O Challenge: prompt "time". Insomnia has always held Dean Winchester in its grasp, but he knows one way to beat it. (Also requested: Sam, 0-3 years old-- happy birthday, Anjelicious!)

Hours like Anchors

Six years old, Dean is too young to know insomnia, but he does; it's the feverish sleeplessness that makes hours drag by like anchors.

But he's learned how to fight back: watching baby Sammy sleep always speeds the night along faster, like the cosmos is determined to age his brother another day, quick as possible.

Twenty years later Dean is still insomnia's bitch, but for the first time in years he combats it with the old method. His brother's chest rises and falls, and the night races away, anchors crumbling-- because when it comes to Sammy, there is never enough time.
