Summary: Neville stands up to Draco one day.

Neville was sitting in the great hall by himself and he was having some breakfast. He was looking around the place and he didn't see anyone he knew. Well, he knew a few Slytherins, but he never associated with them. They tended to be the most cruel people of Hogwarts. Neville saw Draco and Draco noticed that Longbottom was watching him. He walked over to Neville and picked up his tray and threw it on to his lap. "Didn't your mother tell you that staring is rude?" Draco sneered, "Oh wait, I forgot! Your mother and father are in the hospital. No wonder you are so pathetic."

Neville turned bright red and was embarrassed. Not many people knew about that and pretty soon everyone had heard what Draco had said. Everyone began to whisper. "I forgot you lived with your Grandmother, the old fool. Is she dead yet?" continued Draco, "I wouldn't blame her. Your pretty pathetic. You are nothing but a loser."

Neville couldn't look up and was embarrassed. He didn't want to cry in front of everyone. He didn't want them to know Draco hit a weak spot. "Cat got your tongue Neville? Or are you too stupid to answer?"

Neville looked up and out of the corner of his eye; he saw a girl from his herbology class that he had a crush on named Fiona. She smiled and waved to him as she took her seat. She had curly dark brown hair and soft brown eyes and a smile that could light up an entire room.

Her wave gave him the confidence he needed. He got up and stood to Draco's level. "Draco, you are the pathetic one. You are so weak that you have to have followers follow you so you feel strong. I may not have my mother and father with me, but when I did, they loved me. Unlike your parents Draco."

Draco was stunned and Neville continued, "I'm not stupid either. You're just jealous that I'm actually passing herbology and you aren't. I am going to be a professor here someday and I will teach the world all that I have to give. I was staring at your abnormally large head."

Draco felt his head. "Hear that?" Neville said, "That's the sound of your ego deflating."

Draco and his group left Neville alone. Fiona walked up to Neville and put her hand on his shoulder and smiled at him. "That was really brave of you Neville," she giggled, "I couldn't have ever done that."

"Sometimes we find the strength inside of us to do even the most impossible task," Neville replied.

Fiona took her hand and pulled a few strands of hair from her face. "Well, I have to go," she smiled, "I'm proud of you Neville."

Neville blushed when Fiona kissed his cheek. She waved as she walked away. "Wait Fiona," he called after her.

She stopped walking and turned around so Neville could catch up. "Yes Neville?"

He took her in his arms and gave her a sweet kiss to which Fiona gladly returned it. "Whoa, look at Neville," Harry said to Ron and Hermione.

The entire Gryffindor house gathered around them and applauded.
