Steve watched the news stories feeding in. For the years he had been out of the ice he had seen a lot of things, aliens, robots, gods. But he never thought he would witness things like this again. It seemed like every week there was a new atrocity caused by the ignorance of the people he had sworn to protect.

"Darling. Do you think this is the best idea?" Peggy put her hand on his arm. Dark brown hair, red lips, good as new. Not that he didn't think she was lovely as her greyed self. He'd always be in debt to Tony how happy he was that she was back. "I'm sure someone somewhere will want you to remain unbiased. Picking a side…"

He turned and faced her, "I'm not picking a side. Well I guess I am. I'm picking the side of whatvever stops people from getting hurt." He looked back at the TV, "I'm tired of watching bullies and I'm tired of watching fear and hate get the best of people."

"Just don't do something you'll regret." She kissed his cheek.

He had been following a cop. It made him sick to think of the things this one cop had gotten away with. He made all of them look bad, which is a shame since, There's nothing that he grew up to respect more than a cop. Hell, he wanted to be one at one point. That was before war made everything a bit more drastic. But this guy.. This was not a hero. He shouldn't be commended. He was on his bike just keeping an eye on him. Waiting for the moment where he could take action.

A kid was walking down the road with his friends. He was holding a bag in his hand, probably from school. He couldn't have been older than 15. His friend pushed him, he pushed back. Then out of nowhere the other kid grabbed the backpack and started running. From the way the kid looked it seemed like harmless chasing; kids being kids. But the cop… the cop stopped immediately, turning the sirens on and pulling over. He got out of the car and started sprinting. "PUT THE BAG DOWN!"

The two kids took two more steps and stopped. Both of them knew how much danger they were in. They shouldn't have been running. They shouldn't have been on the side walk. They knew that they were guilty of their skin color. "Okay man, Okay.." the one who stole the bag put it down on the ground.

"WHAT'S IN THE BAG." The cop had a gun in his hand and was walking towards them.

"A Project.. Like for school-" Something about the answer wasn't good enough for the cop.

His second in the car came out and followed suit. Pack mentality. He slammed one of them against a brick wall. The look of fear on the kids face made Steve spring into action. It was just like the other one and if he didn't act fast enough, this was going to end up on the news. One more count.

"HEY." Steve walked up. "What's the problem here?"

"Civilian-"

"I'm no Civilian." Steve stopped in front of them.

Both of them had the two kids against the wall. The second cop was calling for back up still. "Who the fuck do you think you are."

"I'm Captain America."

The cop scoffed, "Hey I don't think you want your name tarnished for protecting a bunch of-"

"I want you to choose your words carefully." Steve said slowly.

The cop let the kid go. "Fine. Then we are gonna have to take these kids to the station."

"ON WHAT CHARGES?" Steve walked a few steps closer. He was getting pissed. It was a good thing he was full of vita radiation and not Gamma.

"Suspicious and reckless activity. Now back up or I'm gonna take you in too."

Steve laughed and shook his head. "It's unbelievable. It must be hard to be every other cop out there, who has to live with your bad reputation. You're supposed to keep people safe, not cause more pain than there needs to be." Steve put his wrists out. "You take them in. You take me in too."
