Prologue
"GET OUT!"
"No." He could smell the tears as they began to fall from her eyes. He restrained the urge to go up to her and comfort her.
"Please, Ed-"
"Not until you hear me out." He needed to clear things up her. He knew this wasn't going to work out, but what other choice did they have?
"I don't want to hear. I am afraid to hear you out. It—it will only make this harder." She paused to take a breath, "For the both of us."
"We can try to find a solu-" He tried to persuade.
"NO! We already went over this. I am betrothed and magically tied to a contract!" She sniffed and turned to look at him. Their eyes connected. They could stare into each other forever, if possible. But the other guest would wonder. Their dates would wonder. Her fiancé would wonder. "Please, Edward. I beg you to force yourself to walk away."
"I don't think I can do that, anymore Bella." He walked up to her and took her warm hand into his cold one. "This is too strong for me resist, anymore." She broke eye contact and look to the floor, he tears falling down harder. He let go of her hands to wrap his around her shoulder. He couldn't help but notice how right this felt. How well her petite form fit so well in his arms. How well her warm body balanced his cold one. He looks behind her to the window that was wide open. It was a clear night and he could see the full moon sinning down through the castle window.
Yes this felt so right.
She stood there in his arms for a while crying. She knew if she reached out to wrap her arms around his waist, she would not be able to let go. She had been avoiding her growing feelings because she knew no good would come from it. They were in war, for Merlin sake! There was no time for this. No, she could not afford to let her feelings out. "Edward," she cried, "please" she begged, "don't do this to us," she finished.
"Bella, I can't."
"Why?"
"Because, I-"
"No! Forget I ask." She looked up at him too quickly, then she regretted the second after.
"love-" She tried to pull away, but it was futile.
"Don't do this me, please" She pleaded as his face neared hers.
"you." He kissed her and she kissed back.
