In his lonesome, Speed of Sound Sonic allows his emotions to roam free. On this day, he allows himself to be a bit vulnerable, to let himself see what he truly is. He allows himself to break, shatter within his own confines. He allows himself to think, to feel all that remains.
He allows himself to remember him.
The cold, unexpressive demeanor that he could, on an extremely rare occasion, crack a smile. The gracefulness of his running, as opposed to Sonic's reckless speed. The actions he would carry out, the actions Sonic never really understood, even when it was beneficial for him, and never really acknowledged until now.
The paths diverged, and all was (never) truly forgotten.
The opportunities, the memories, their relationship – everything slipped from their fingers like sand.
Every year, he never forgets their birthday.
In his lonesome, Lightspeed Flash allows himself to reflect upon the past. On this day, he allows himself to contemplate upon the memories he keeps hidden from himself, locked in a box but the key never thrown away. He allows himself to swallow his pride and face his fears. He allows himself to think, to feel all that has stayed.
He allows himself to remember him.
That idiotic yet charmingly innocent smile that signified brash arrogance. The sparkle in his eyes whenever they practiced, the glint of awe and admiration and amazement, the childlike wonder that Flash loved so much. The things he would do, the things Flash couldn't quite understand, even when it was all for him, and never realized until now.
The paths diverged, and all was (never) truly meaningless.
The chances, the days together, their relationship – everything faded from them like smoke in the wind.
Every year, he never forgets their birthday.
Bruh, I fell in love the possibility of their being some connection between Sonic and Flash. And I'm not sure if I'm the only one who thinks them, but I like to think that they've a strained relationship (though I would occasionally go a bit more happy-go-lucky at times and have a strong brotherly bond between them). I mean, Sonic's a villain; Flash's a hero. If they've some connection, like being brothers or living and training in the same village, then how come Sonic isn't a hero or Flash a villain? Yeah, I know that you don't have the follow the same path of your brother or friend or whoever, but I think that the choices they made, the path that they've chose, would cause some rift between them, like Flash could be disappointed that Sonic didn't become a hero or vice versa or –
I think deeply about this, as you can see. Sorry for my rambling, heh heh.
(Also, what the hell do we call Flash? Is it Lightspeed Flash or Flashy Flash? I've been in the fandom for a while and there are some things I still don't know shit about.)
