AN: This... Interesting piece was requested by Blackmoon, written by me. It's lovely, really, but if you can't stand gore, get out now. In other news, I love sentence fragments. They lend a peculiar feel to the writing. Now, on with the show!
Ordon Village. A once-peaceful settlement, now a scene of indescribably horrific carnage.
The area, once teeming with livestock, lies barren. The corpses of goats, house pets, and more terrifyingly, chickens, strewn about. Their blood slathered across the earth, splattered upon the formerly purple gables of the village homesteads, and staining the clear rivers a murky garnet.
The townsfolk hid. Cowering in their homes and praying to the goddesses for protection from the lunatic whirlwind of green as it swept past.
The destroyer decimated all they had. Reducing their feeble constructs; porch, bridge, and fence alike, to splinters. Littering any bare patches of terrain with wooden debris. The pulpy innards of pumpkins randomly scattered about, garnishes to decorate the macabre tableau.
The scent of the days-old massacre, borne on the winds, wafts to traveler's noses. An inadequate warning of the grisly sight that awaits them. Two such travelers have come, driven by the rumors and greeted by the stench of sun-baked gore and guts.
"Goddesses... So it was true..." The first breathed, stunned by the magnitude of the devastation. His companion fared only slightly better.
"I-is this what you brought me to see? It's horrible... Who would do such a thing?"
"It was... Link. I heard someone called him 'Zelda' again and he snapped. I had to see for myself if it was true..." They gazed over the ruined town, as sorrow, grief, and nausea vied for control of their hearts.
Stifling a sob, the second sadly murmured "well, it is her legend after all..."
AN: We all know someone who's done it, heck we've probably all done it at least once ourselves. By a show of hands, how many people here at one time or other thought that Link was actually named Zelda? It's an easy mistake. I mean, honestly... Who names a game after a secondary character?
