The following is set during the epilogue of City of Glass.

Maybe this is a bit too much?

Whoa, hang on a minute! What am I saying? It's just not possible to wear too much glitter!

Magnus slammed down the glitter jar on his vanity table in agitation, and he frowned whilst peering intently at his own reflection. It's funny how love can make you change. Magnus Bane had never before even contemplated changing himself, least of all for the sake of other people.

But then... he had come along; someone who seemed so different from everybody else, someone who represented the true meaning of the word magic.

"Alec." He murmured to himself. He drew out the word slowly and tenderly as if he were merely breathing it. Alec and air... two things he simply could not live without. Not anymore. Still gazing at his reflection, Magnus allowed a faint smile to dance across his glossy lips and the more he watched it the more his smile grew. That nervous but oh so happy grin that happens whenever you merely think about the person who owns your heart or when you see them at a distance and realise they're coming towards you. It's a stupid grin. But then love makes people stupid in many ways. Not that Magnus minded in the least that he was now grinning like a Cheshire cat just over the mere thought of Alec; it made him happier than ever to feel this way. It was like he was a real teenager again instead of an eight hundred year old warlock who only looked nineteen.

He let out a deep but satisfied sigh. Today was going to be a good day after all. For today he would officially be introduced to Alec's parents. He knew that it would probably be a bit awkward but to be honest he and Alec had already covered the whole "we are in a relationship, and you all better get used to it" thing, with that single, surprising and yet very pleasurable kiss that they had shared in public, well, extremely publicly.

No one can blame us mind, we could both very well have died that day. Better safe than sorry and all that. Magnus smirked to himself and remembered how he had almost given up hope on Alec ever feeling brave enough to let them bring their relationship out into the open. Or even for Alec to let go of his feelings for Jace for that matter.

But it had happened. Everything was finally going right for them. Still, he had to consider what kind of impression he wanted to make on Alec's parents and he definitely did not want Alec to feel uncomfortable when introducing him to them.

It's a dilemma to be sure...

He stared at himself for a few more minutes.

"To heck with it, I'll dress smartly but I am still going to be me!" He said aloud and after finishing his makeup he pulled on a black frock coat over his violet silk vest. He checked himself out in a full length mirror but something was missing from the look...

Then he spotted his handkerchief amongst a pile of accessories and carefully tucked it into his vest pocket so the embroidered M.B. could still be seen at the top.

"Perfect."
