Using a prompt from the new hoafanfic tumblr (prompt number three: KT and Fabian get lost in the woods)

"We're headed the wrong way," KT was evidently frustrated.

"No, no I'm sure we're fine," said Fabian, panicked. He knew they were lost, but wouldn't be the one to admit it.

"Fabian," KT shot him an un-amused look, arms crossed.

"Okay," his shoulders fell in defeat. "I have no clue where we are. Text Eddie, see if he can help?"

"I don't have my phone," she shook her head. "You do it."

"...I," he looked down. "I don't have mine either."

"Awesome, Fabian," KT grumbled.

"Some Sibuna mission this was," he sighed, leaning his back against a tree.

"There was really no point in all of us splitting up," she slumped down to sit at the tree's base, Fabian joining her a moment later.

"I think Eddie's a little too into the whole "leader" thing. It made him feel more official," Fabian laughed a bit.

"Probably," KT smiled. After a few minutes of pure silence, KT spoke up."Fabian?"

"Yeah?"

"What was she like?" KT asked. He knew exactly who she was talking about. Sibuna's old leader. The name they could barely speak without Fabian clenching his jaw to hold together. The girl who Fabian missed with every bit of his heart, wanting so much to see her one more time.

"Um," he looked down, suddenly fascinated with his thumbs as they twiddled back and forth in his lap.

"If you don't want to-" she started, but he cut her off.

"No, no...it's fine," he shook his head. "She...well, she was great," he sighed. "She was a good leader. She had a bit of a temper at times...occasionally a little frazzled...but overall, good. Great, really."

"No, Fabian," KT let out a small laugh. "What was she like? As a person, not a leader."

"Oh... Well...again, great. She was smart, friendly...most of the time, caring, helpful, beautiful," he trailed off, eyes glued to his hands.

"Eddie says you really loved her," KT said quietly.

"Love," Fabian corrected. "Love. Present tense."

"Love," she smiled in agreement. Sadly, the smile faltered. "I...I'm sorry I replaced her, Fabian. I can tell that's what everyone thinks."

"No," Fabian shook his head immediately. "No. Well, okay. They think that, but it'll all be fine. You know why?"

"Why?" she smiled, turning to look at him.

"When Nina came two terms ago, she 'replaced' Joy. Everyone was a bit mad about it. But, by the end of term, everyone liked her."

"But Joy's here..."

"Joy came back," Fabian smiled. "So, I have some hope."

"Fabian, you heard what happened, she can't-"

"KT," he shook his head. "Joy had literally disappeared. Some of us even thought she was dead. In the end, she came back and our Anubis family was restored and expanded. I'm hoping history repeats itself. Is that really so wrong of me to hope?"

"No," she sighed. "I guess not."

"Thank you," he smiled.

"For your sake, I hope she comes back soon. She's got quite the guy waiting for here here," KT patted his shoulder.

"Thanks," he blushed, looking down quietly. The confidence from his little speech had drained, leaving just the normal, quiet Fabian.

A/N: I dunno, it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the prompt. It's 1AM, give me a break.
