For anyone waiting on the next chapter to Fugitive I do have some done on it and I apologize for the delay. I got this idea the other night and had to write it down. As always, thanks to my beta. Hope you enjoy.

Clark walked into his house with a heavy heart. He hoped his mom had already gone to bed; he really didn't want to talk to anyone now. As he turned from closing the door he found himself face to face across the room with his mom.

Martha immediately saw the look of sadness in her son's eyes. "How's Lois? Did you find Wes?"

Clark averted his eyes when he answered. "Lois is safe."

Martha took a step closer. "Clark, what's wrong?" It seemed as if he was almost on the verge of tears. She took a hold of his arm and gently led him over to the kitchen table. She was a little surprised that he just came along without any protest. "Tell me what happened."

"I killed him." Clark said, his voice cracking slightly.

"Who? Wes?" Martha questioned gently. "I know you had no other choice. It was the only way to protect yourself and Lois. Can you tell me what happened?"

"When I got there Lois had passed out. I think he had been choking her. I moved her over to the side so that she would be safe." Clark paused momentarily before beginning again. "I couldn't see him at first and then he knocked me across the room. Then when he came towards me I used my heat vision on him."

"Then, what happened sweetie?"

"Lois woke up and I couldn't have her see me so I hid behind some boxes and watched her talk to him before he….." Clark couldn't finish the sentence.

"Clark, you can not blame yourself for this. You had no other option."

"You didn't see Lois's face." Clark argued seemingly inconsolable. "She had the same look on her face that you did when dad collapsed in the yard.

Martha reached over and put Clark's hand inside hers. "Clark, I want you to listen to what I'm about to say really good. You are not the person at fault here. You did not cause this to happen to Wes. You did not do anything wrong. You saved Lois's life tonight. You shouldn't feel bad about that."

"Then why do I feel so bad?"

"Because you're you. You care for people so much. I want you to know that I am proud of you."
