A/N: I'M BACK! And with a new name. You all probably don't remember me and that's cool. My previous pen name was CrazyXXXBaby, but I wanted something more...professional. So, here I am. Irulan A. Brynn. If you're familiar with the MTV show "Real World," you probably know where I got those names. I digress, however. I haven't written anything in a very, very long time. I was recently hit with some inspiration for a cute story and so here it is! The prologue for "Years of Love." Oh yeah, if you haven't already guessed from my summary, this is a R/Hr fic. Okay, now back to the damn story!

Prologue
It was the middle of December and as snow quietly fell outside Hogwarts castle, Hermione Granger sat in front of a roaring fire with a book opened on her lap. The Gryffindor common room was very cozy at this time of the year. Hermione sat on the biggest chair that the common room had and glanced at her watch. It was 2:47 in the morning, but she didn't feel tired at all. She looked back down at her book and sighed.
Hermione wasn't sighing over the fact that she wasn't even half way finished the book that was to be read by January 29th. No, she was sighing over a different matter. Something that Hermione really didn't want to think about. But it's just going to give me more stress if I don't think about it, she told herself.
Ron was her best friend, after all. She didn't like that she thought about him in ways that made her cheeks hot. Why him? She asked herself. Why did I have to start seeing him differently? I mean, he's rude, cruel, and lazy. He doesn't like school and he doesn't like me! Hermione knew most of that was a lie. She just couldn't stand to think that maybe he liked her too. We're best friends and that's- Hermione gasped and stood up, dropping the book in the process. She had heard a creaking sound from over near the boys' staircase. She didn't want anyone to catch her out of bed this late at night. Even though she was a prefect...
Hermione gathered up her stuff and walked quietly towards the girls' staircase. She tiptoed up the stairs and walked down the hallway towards the 5th year girls' dorms. When she reached the door to her dorm, she put her hand on the doorknob and gently turned it. But before she opened the door, something to her right caught her eye. She let go of the doorknob and walked over to where she saw a glint of light. Probably some first year's bracelet. They're so irresponsible when it comes to jewelry.
She bent down to examine the floor. It wasn't a bracelet, at all. It was a glass ball on a chain. She put her books down and picked up the chain. Seems pretty valuable, she thought. She grabbed the ball to see it better, but as soon as her hand touched it, she was gone without a sound.
A/N: Okay, that was short, but it was the prologue. If you guys review and tell me that it was good, I'll continue. If you don't like it, then why bother, right? If I do continue, the chapters will be much longer. I promise. I have a really good idea in my head for this so I hope you guys liked it. Please no flames! If you do, I will set my pet niffler on you, laddie! If you didn't like my story then tell me why. I like constructive criticism. Thanks!
