It was a lazy day of summer for the Potter boys. They were slumped on the couch, without any thoughts on what to do to entertain themselves. Their parents were at work and their seven-year-old sister, Lily, was at a friends' birthday party. The two boys were at loss in finding a way to make their day eventful.

Suddenly Albus jolted up from the couch and ran to his room. A curious James got up from the couch and followed his younger brother up the stairs.

"What on earth are you doing?" James yelled as he walked up the stairs.

"Nothing," Al replied as he scrambled through a piled of his stuff in the corner of a room, "why?"

"Just wondering," James commented casually as he leaned against the doorway.

"You do know there's always curiosity behind every 'just wondering', right?" the younger boy asked with a smirk on his face.

"Get off my case." Al gave his moody brother a shrug and went back to looking through his things.

James watched his brother as he went to every corner of his small room looking for an item that seems to be very important. Albus was beginning to get frustrated with himself and mumbling words to himself about how he needs to 'clean the room more often' and 'find a place for all this rubbish'. Finally he found what he was looking for, and tossed it to James.

Immediately James caught it and felt the texture of leather and knew what it was – a quaffle. James looked up from the ball and broadly grinned at his brother who was giving him an identical look.

The Potter boys ran down the stairs and outside to the shed, which is full of tools, buckets, and a few broomsticks. They both grabbed one and raced each other to the meadow nearby.

James had hold of the quaffle, and declared himself Puddlemere United's chaser and Albus claimed himself as Montrose Magpies' chaser. Then the two were off – James raced on their father's sturdy and quick Firebolt 300 and Albus was racing on their mother's fast and agile Nimbus 3000.

The two were neck and neck while James had hold of the quaffle until he finally scored, and cheered, "Oh yeah! 100 Puddlemere, 0 Magpies!"

"Be quiet!" shouted Albus, "this is only the beginning! First one who gets 2,000 wins!"

"You're on!" James challenged.

James and Albus continued with their game for what seemed like hours until finally, someone reached 2,000. On the walk back home James kept smirking at his brothers displeased expression, but remained silent throughout the walk. Albus was grateful because he knew once they were in their parents' presence his brother's silence will soon be replaced with gloating.

As soon as both Potters got home and showered Harry and Ginny arrived. The four sat down to dinner and Harry asked what the two had done all day.

"Well at first nothing, but then Al came up with the brilliant idea to play Quidditch," James said eagerly as he looked at his brother.

"Really? So which of you won?" Ginny asked looking between her sons.

"I did, but Al was extremely close! I bet if we went to 2,500 he would have won," James stated humbly.

"Yeah, maybe," Al muttered.

Sensing his brothers' downtrodden feelings he said, "Didn't we have fun though?"

Albus looked up from his plate of food, "Yeah. I enjoyed it while it lasted."

"We should do these types of things more often."

"Why's that?" Al questioned with a raised eyebrow.

James gave his little brother a small smile, "That's was friendship are."
