Author's Note
Please forgive the review from me on this poem; I originally had forgotten to add my author's note, and that was merely all I was trying to do. This was my first submission to FFnet, and I didn't understand how everything worked at the time. I wasn't trying to "up" my review count, honest.

Early it became evident
The restless energy came
Infusing the population
Every gentleman and dame
Common standards perished
Splendid structures arose
Once characterized by restraint
The choke holds now froze
But this world grew wild
As the untamed took control
I saw the end of time appear
Sliding down a dark hole
Intermingling pools of thought
Once burning so brightly
Fell away in the anarchy
Which our vision could not see
The joy, peace and love
Corrupted by great scandal
Triumphs of stone now crumbled
No longer powerful and tall
So this is progressive character
The aim of all our dreams
What a quality your greed was
Such a ghastly shade of green
I want my precious empire back
Not to walk amidst this rubble
You said I was afraid of change
I think you the close-minded fool
