Open Your Eyes

A poem/short story inspired by the BlackBoxTV episode "Final Exit." Told from Alexander's POV. My first published story, please review and if you liked it...FAVORITE :D!

I didn't know where I was. Why I was running. I only knew something was pulling me. Pulling me toward the unknown.

I could hear them. The doctors. They were chasing me. I found the doors. My heart pounded as I struggled to get past the locked metal wall in my path. Too much noise.

They found me.

I bolted to the staircase. Visions of my mom…my mom… I had to get out of here. For her. I saw a light. I needed the light. The pulling intensified.

They were closing in. Trying to stop me from getting out. They were going to kill me! I grabbed the door. She grabbed me. The female. She looked so familiar. I screamed and shut my eyes as they held me down.

"No! No!"

She growled. "Alexander…"

I shut my eyes tighter and another vision crossed my mind. I was outside. Coughing. Cold. Mom was there. Pounding my chest. I spat out water.

I was back in the hospital. The woman growled again.

"Open your eyes…"

I did. And my mom sighed in relief. "Mom? Wh-what happened?" Tears fell from her eyes. "You just fell in the pool. But you're alright now. Just breathe." She held me close. "I thought I lost you."

I had been drowning. The light…I was dying and they were keeping me from the light.

They saved me.
