Softly Now.

Pairing: Jelsi//Ryelsi-ish
Rating: K+
A/N: I've never written a Ryelsi before, even though they're one of my all-time favorite couples. So, it's something new. Also, this is Kelsi-centric. She's fun to write about; I recommend it for anyone wishing to try something new.

Disclaimer: I don't own Lucas or Olesya or HSM or Ryan Evans or Kelsi Nielson. I only own Nick Hutchison and Garrett Mathers. But I digress.
Ryelsi
Kelsi Nielson stared out her window. The rain poured. Thunder and lightning thrashed in the sky. Kelsi felt the melodious pitter-patter of raindrops falling engulf her mentally. She was too tired to fight back the heartache that ebbed in her chest.
She did not love Jason Cross. In fact, she was only interested in the feeling of loneliness that was wiped away when she was around him. (Wow, that was a run-on sentence.) She couldn't continue to pretend like she loved him. Because that was cruel, and sick, and wrong.
Kelsi had loved, or rather liked, many a boy. From first to second grade it was Nick Hutchison. From third to fifth grade it was Garrett Mathers. From sixth to eighth grade it was...Troy Bolton. Kelsi laughed when she thought about it. She could only picture East High's Golden Boy with his Freaky Math Girl, Gabriella.
But Kelsi had been madly, truly, deeply, insanely, menacingly, irrevocably in love with Ryan Evans. For four long, hard years. From freshman to senior year, she had not been able to get the blond-haired, blue-eyed, completely ador-. She would stop herself there.
She had fallen in love with him on a rainy day, Kelsi had left her sheet music for a song she was writing in the auditorium. Kelsi had gone back to find it, and saw Ryan sitting at the piano, playing the song...
flashback
"Um, I, um, need, um, my, um-" Kelsi stuttered, trying to spit out the words. Ryan raised an eyebrow and smirked, "Without the ums, please?" he said. She could feel her cheeks burn, unable to find the words to speak.
"I need...my...sheet music." she simply replied, long pauses between her words. "This song...it's yours?" Ryan's eyes widened. Kelsi glanced at her feet. "Is it, um, really that bad?"
"Are you kidding? You're beautiful! I mean...the piece is beautiful." Ryan smiled, blushing madly when he said, 'You're beautiful!' Then he gave her the music and disappeared.
End flashback
That was the first time anyone had called her beautiful...almost. For the first time in her life, Kelsi LIKED her plain brown hair, and glasses, and Yurtle the Turtle t-shirts. Kelsi liked being...Kelsi.
But the post-almost-beautiful euphoria wore off; life went on. Only, Kelsi had something to look forward to; seeing Ryan. They started talking more, and he even (gasp!) told Sharpay to shut up when she made a mean crack about Kelsi's hair.
Kelsi had accepted Jason's offer to become his girlfriend, after pondering how it would effect her and Ryan's relationship. She cut off contact with Ryan after she began dating Jason. Why should she still cry over a boy who didn't even notice she was there, when Jason had given his whole heart to her?
However, even though she no longer spke to Ryan, she felt emotionally attached to him. She still cried over Ryan, even if she told herself over and over again that she would NOT continue to think, talk, or even allow herself to hear about the going-ons of Ryan Evans.
The rain didn't cease. It continued to pour, pour into Kelsi's soul. Ryan had loved the rain. He loved when it rained buckets and buckets. Kelsi didn't love Ryan. She didn't loved him. She didn't...she wouldn't...couldn't.
But she did all the same.

Endus storius. Like? Hate? Loathe with every bone in you body?
It was just something I threw together, so please don't judge too harshly!
