A/U: random thought I had. Rate and review. Not really couples just something to hold over until the next chapter of Five By Five. I do not own this song
Tony walked into the bullpen whistling. He said good morning to Ziva and McGee. He sat down, and wondered what he was just whistling. It sounded familiar but he couldn't place it.
At lunch, Tony found himself whistling that song again. McGee asked him what it was. Tony answered truthfully, he didn't know. They then got into this whole argument on if you can not know a song but whistle it anyway.
When Ziva asked him what his plans were for the evening, he shrugged and turned back to his monitor. She asked if he would like to go see a movie with her, and he accepted. When she went back to her desk, he started whistling the same exact song! Ugh! It was bothering him so much.
By the time he was packing up it annoyed him even more. He was whistling a tune so familiar. The title was on the tip of his tongue and yet it still eluded him. He whistled it all the way home.
He even tried some songs from movies he had just watched. Nothing. Then he tried to figure out when he would start singing it. All they had in common was that Ziva had said something to him or they had talked right before.
He started to get ready for his movie night with Ziva. He whistled it in the shower and while getting dressed. He still couldn't place it. He didn't try to force it because it was such a happy tune. He checked his reflection in his hallway mirror. Looking pretty smooth, as per usual.
He got to his car. That's when he froze. The song title had finally come to him. He wasn't cheering though. He recognized the song. It's the title and the scene from the movie that worried him.
The song was Singing in the Rain. It's from the 1952 classic of the same title. Gene Kelly sings it. It's a movie he hasn't seen in years. The reason this makes him stop short is because when Gene Kelly sings it, he sings it because he's in love. This makes Tony smile as he gets into his car. He rummages through CD's and pops one in called "Great Songs From Great Old Movies". He lets Gene's words flow out the window as he drives over to meet Ziva. He's singing the song to himself.
I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again
I'm laughing at the clouds
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singin'
Singin' in the rain
