AUTHOR'S NOTE: This story is the sorta sequel to "If I asked You to be Mine…". It takes place that last final night at the well between Cloud and Tifa…only from Tifa's point of view.

These two stories are the sorta prequels to "If I said I loved you…" and "…Would you Turn Away?" also posted here under my profile. Please read them.

I don't own Final Fantasy, simple as that.

This story is dedicated to those who don't realize they are in love with someone until it is too late to win them…

Boy its cold tonight.

Where did he ask me to meet him again? I can't remember…

I pull my jacket tighter around me as I walk forward, my breath crystallizing in the air in white puffs.

I walk to the town fountain, and sit down on its frozen stone edge. Now where did he ask me to meet him?…

I look up at the sky for a moment, and suddenly it hits me.

The well.

He asked me to meet him at the well.

Mentally I slap myself for forgetting. How could I forget? Stupid me. He is probably there now, wondering if I am ever gonna show up or not.

I turn around, and start to walk softly along the gravel path to where the town well was.

After a couple minutes, I see him, his hands pulling his shirt tighter around him as the wind suddenly picks up while just staring out into the distance. My chest tightens up when I see him, like it always does when I see him or think of him, though I am never sure why.

I go down the slope passing in front of him, and then sit down on the other side of him.

He just sits there continuing to look out into the darkness.

"Sorry I'm late. You said you wanted to talk about something?"

I turn my head towards him, and look at him. He looks back at me, and suddenly seems to break out of his trance.

He opens his mouth, and says almost a shade too casually "Come this spring…I'm leaving this town for Midgar."

What? He's leaving?

For some odd reason I want to cry.

"…All boys are leaving our town." I reply softly, turning my head away slightly from him.

"But I'm different from all of them. I'm not just going to find a job. I want to join SOLDIER. I'm going to be the best there is, just like Sephiroth!" The determination in his voice is evident, carrying and engulfing the cold nighttime air between us. My tears just want to fall.

For some stupid reason I don't want him to go. Why don't I want him to go?

"Sephiroth... The Great Sephiroth. Isn't it hard to join SOLDIER?"

His next words almost push me over the edge.

"...I probably won't be able to come back to this town for a while."

My mouth starts to run as I try to push back the tears, try to hold them back, try to hold back tears that I don't know why want to fall down to the ground beneath the full moon and stars.

I don't know what to say. He isn't going to ever going to come back if he goes, it is a feeling I have, a strong feeling that I just can't shake.

"Hey, why don't we make a promise? Umm, if you get really famous and I'm

ever in a bind...... You came save me, all right?" I stutter the words out weakly, desperate to try to be able to see him again someday. To see this boy again…

"What?" He looks up at me with surprise, and then quickly hides it away from me.

"Whenever I'm in trouble, my hero will come and rescue me. I want to at

least experience that once." Please say yes, please agree, please say that you will let me see you again someday.

"What?"

"Come on--! Promise me--!" I am desperate at this point, please, just…

"All right…I promise."

A single tear slips down my cheek.
