A/N: Random thought that occurred to me when I remembered what a big imagination Kintarou has.
The autumn air was crisp and cool. The sun was shining, keeping it from getting too cold, and Shiraishi was enjoying every second of it. It was the perfect weather to play tennis, not too hot, not too cold, and (from the cloudless blue sky) no chance of rain. Yes, it was indeed pure, "Ectsasy~," Shiraishi hummed happily. As his eyes scanned the courts and the tennis club his mood was elated even more when he saw how hard everyone was working. Nothing could have ruined the moment except. . .
"Shiraaaaaaaaiiiiiishi! Kenya-senpai is being mean!"
That, Shitenhouji's own monkey boy super rookie, Tooyama Kintarou. Shiraishi sighed exasperatedly as he saw Kintarou attempting to flee from Naniwa's Speed Star to him, and failing greatly (Kenya wasn't even trying, just barely jogging lightly). The Tennis Bible knew it was too good to be true that he might actually get some peace today. "What is it now Kin-chan?"
Huffing and jumping around in frustration Kintarou pointed accusingly at Kenya, who at the moment was rolling his eyes. "Kenya-senpai won't tell me about this holiday he says exists!"
For once, Shiraishi was drawing a complete and utter blank on the matter. "Holiday?"
"Yeah! Yeah! Hallaw? Harrow? Halldow?" Kintarou futilely tried to pronounce it correctly.
Kenya slapped his forehead, "It's Halloween Kin-chan."
Still looking slightly confused Shiraishi questioned further, "What does an American holiday have to do with this?"
"Kenya-senpai won't tell me about it!" Kintarou whined, tugging on the poor captain's shirt.
Shiraishi tilted his head to Kenya, silently asking why it was such a big deal to keep Halloween a secret from the naïve first year. So going against all of Kenya's facial warnings (and hand gestures that quite obviously were telling him to keep quiet) and his own tiny voice in his head that was telling him he forgot something very important, replied to Kintarou. "Well Kin-chan, Halloween is a holiday where people-,".
"Give out candy!" Kenya abruptly cut off a bewildered Shiraishi who was looking at him skeptically.
"For real?" Kintarou bounced around excitably.
Shiraishi nodded, "Yes, and-,".
"Carve pumpkins!" Zaizen popped out of nowhere to interrupt a now incredulous Shiraishi. What was up with people cutting him off today? He knew Zaizen wasn't the most polite Kouhai, but still. It wasn't adding up!
"That too," the captain confirmed to a wide-eyed Kintarou, "another thing is that-,"
"People dress up like ninjas, pirates, fairies, and that stuff!" Both Koharu and Yuuji said in unison. Again, cutting off Shiraishi.
Now very annoyed at his team's antics he glared at all of them causing them to back down, "Why is it do you see fit to keep interrupting me?" his voice was venomous, "I'll I was trying to tell Kin-chan was that people make haunted houses, watch horror movies, and make monsters, tell ghost stories, pretend to summon demons…," he drifted off as it all clicked, seeing Kintarou trembling he stopped.
Not being able to take Shiraishi's scary demeanor and tales of Halloween he let out a screech and ran off screaming. "Ahhhhhhhhhhh! The monsters are going to eat me! I never want to learn about Harrowen again!" Suffice to say a freaking out Kintarou was going to cause some disturbances. The tennis courts were in chaos as the first-year ran amok all over the place, it was even drawing the attention of some random passerby.
The Shitenhouji tennis team was now glaring severely at their captain, "Now do you see why we were trying to stop you?"
Shiraishi awkwardly averted his eyes from the team as he guiltily scratched his cheek, "Oops?"
Needless to say another tennis practice at Shitenhouji had gone down the drain.
