He'd been away from her for too long and he couldn't stand it. If he had to be away much longer he was sure he would lose his mind. Why had they insisted on going on a family trip? There was no point. And they hadn't had a good reason for him not to come along either. They didn't care about the imprinting as much as his pack did though, so they were determined not to let him get his way no matter what he said. But it had been so long! What if something had happened to her? He needed her to survive! If she didn't come back soon he would go after them. He knew he would.

Jacob turned towards his front door as his ears picked up the sound of a car. He stopped his pacing and carefully watched the road through one of the windows. If she was back with her parents he would know the car as it drove past and would then run after it as fast as he could in his other form. He really needed to see her. He could hear the sound of the car coming closer and hoped desperately that it was who he thought it was. His limbs were tense. It was so close.

The red Ferrari that zoomed along the road made him jump; in an instant he had shifted and was racing along the path after the motor vehicle. He knew where it was headed and therefore changed direction after a while in order to take a shortcut. He could hear his heart beating in his ears and his entire body felt exhilarated as he ran on all fours towards the reason he still lived; his life; his world.

"Jacob!"

He was standing on their doorstep when Renesmee leapt out of the car before it had completely stopped moving. She ran up to him and flung her arms around him, hugging him tightly. He chuckled and put his own arms around her also.

"I missed you." Jacob murmured.

"Same here." Renesmee smiled, pulling back from him slightly to look up at him.

"Hey, Jacob!" Bella said as she walked up to them with Edward beside her. Jacob looked over at her and smiled, then turned back to Renesmee.

"I thought you were never going to get back here. I was about ready to come looking for you." He admitted. Renesmee blushed and grabbed his hand.

"I'm here now, don't worry." she said gently.

"Hey, I've got something to tell you." Jacob's eyes had suddenly sparked with excitement and Renesmee giggled. He turned to Bella and Edward. "Do you mind if I speak to her privately for a moment?"

"Go ahead." Bella said before Edward could open his mouth. "We'll be inside."

Jacob waited until they shut the door behind them before he let a grin break out on his face. Renesmee bit her lip in anticipation, desperately wanting to know what he was going to say to her.

"Nessie," Jacob began slowly. "Today is very important. Do you know why?"

Renesmee frowned in thought and tilted her head. "Is it because I'm back from holiday and we're together again?"

"Partly." Jacob grinned wider. "Today you're sixteen years, three months and seventeen days old."

Renesmee raised an eyebrow in amusement, wondering what was so special about her being that particular age.

"Nessie," Jacob lowered his voice. "Today we're the same age."
