ULTRAMARINE
writers note
Hello, my name is Jumiles. This story is about a captain of the Ultramarines (Captain Thoran) who lands on a planet to find it infested with orks. However, once the force gets rid of the orks, they find a much darker, sinister presence behind in front of them...
WARNING I do sometimes get carried away with details, so there will be frequent imagery of blood.
CHAPTER ONE
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Captain Thoran of the Ultramarines looked out on the smoking landscape from his vantage point atop a rickety spire. There were bodies. Of course there were bodies, no where a Space Marine could go without seeing a dead body, barring their ship or vessel of course. Bodies mostly of orks, with either their head smashed in, brains spilling out on to the floor, or with holes blown in various places about them. Here and there, there were the odd marine blue and shining gold bodies of honourable Ultramarines that had fallen over the last ten hours of battle, standing out like beacons in the abyss of the green sea. Such courage they had shown in battle, ready to die at any given second, content only that they were dealing out the Emperor's justice in the best way they knew how. Tooth and Nail. When it came to close quarter fighting, orks were very good. Good enough to kill guardsmen, Tau, even the odd Eldar. But Space Marines were better. They could decimate an entire ork squad of Boyz in a matter of seconds, calmly taking headshots with the explosive bolts from their bolters, dispatching hundreds of orks a minute. Relishing in the mass blood flow for the Emperor.
"Captain Thoran. This is Sergeant Leandros. We have saved some orks for you. Care to join us?" said his sergeant.
Leandros was the sergeant of the 1st Assault Unit. In the unit, there were three squads of 6 marines, each kitted with a chainsword and bolt pistol. Then there were the Vanguard Veterans, whom Leandros was commanding. It was unusual that such a young marine would elevate into the Veterans so quickly, but Thoran had seen talent in the young sergeant, and as such, elevated him as he saw fit.
"Acknowledged." Thoran replied simply.
He hefted his Thunder Hammer, Retribution, and hit the ignition switch to his jump pack on his chest, and soared into the black, murky sky.
