She bit her lip. Should I? Do I really want him to know?she wondered. Can I face the consequences if he doesn't like me?
She shuddered.
"No." She decided aloud.
"Hey, Ahsoka, what are you doing?"
"Oh- um, nothing." She raced away.
"O-kayyyyy?"Fives stood there, realizing the awkwardness of that moment.
"Oh, hey, she dropped something." A white envelope, sealed with Rex's name on it.
"Must be a letter. I'll go deliver it to him. That's what letters are for anyway."
So he went off, not realizing the change of fate he'd bring to Ahsoka and Rex.
Commander Cody was in his quarters. He was plotting how best to get Anakin to leave Ahsoka and Rex alone when Fives arrived.
"Hey, Cody. Letter for Rex. 'S from Ahsoka."
"Hmm..." Cody voiced his suspicions.
"Yeah, yeah, suspicious, right?" Fives asked.
"Yes..."
"Whatever. I'm going down to the mess hall." He left.
Cody was sorely tempted to read it. But, exercising the great self control clones were programmed with, he managed toavoid contact with it altogether.
When Rex came in, he mentioned it to him.
"Letter for you."
"From?"
"Commander Tano."
He perked up at that.
"Hmm..."
He unfolded the letter. Smoothing it out, he read.
After a few moments of silence, he placed it on the desk. He stared forward, thinking.
Suddenly he stood, and started to pace.
"Well?" Cody asked, impatient.
"Nothing." Rex replied, racing off.
"That's not nothing." Cody muttered. Hmm... Rex had left the sheet behind...
After a two second internal battle (it was a no brainer- to read/ not to read- read it, duh!) he snatched the letter off the desk.
Ahsoka raced down the hallway, searching desperately for the paper.
"No! No, no, no..." She had looked everywhere, but the precious letter was nowhere to be found.
What if someone had read it? They'd know she broke the code!
Worse, what if someone had given it to Rex?
She dreaded the thought.
She decided to check the lunch hall one last time, just to be sure.
Just as she got to the door, she heard a familiar voice.
"-seen Ahsoka? I need to ask her something."
Sithspit!
"No, sorry."
Footsteps neared the door, but she was listening for more voices.
Someone bumped into her.
"Oh, sorry, I-"
Both of them froze.
"Ahsoka?"
She let out the most embarrassing squeak ever, and ran.
Ahsoka slipped into her room. She had been hiding all day. From pretty much everyone.
Sighing in relief, she walked to her room. Then she saw it. The note on her pillow, addressed to her in Rex's untidyscrawl.
Shaking hands opened the envelope, while worried eyes read.
Rushing feet carried Ahsoka out the door and into Rex's arms.
And overjoyed souls celebrated as they embraced.
Yeah... Cody was OOC. I was going to make him try and push them together... but I didn't. And Fives sounds kinda stupid in this one... Whoops.
