Snow

This is part of a personal challenge to create four stories dealing with different elements. The first one I pick was Snow, the second is Sand, and I haven't written the other two yet. It has to be Kingdom Hearts related. This takes place in the first game, in an unnamed world.
Growing up on an island, I never really dealt with the cold. I hate the cold. Give me a hot day any time instead of this coldness. I shiver in my shirt. Why couldn't we have been given jackets? The clouds were getting heavy with rain. I can tell.
At first, I didn't notice the white stuff falling down from the sky. We are searching for this place keyhole in the cave. It was after we finished in the cave, I notice the white stuff piling up on the ground. I reached down and poke it. It was wet and cold, even through my glove. I pick some up and sniff it. I wonder if it's edible. I lick it. It reminds me of the ice cones back at home.
"Sora, what are you doing?" ask Donald, glaring with his arms cross. Goofy is standing next to him with a confuse look on his face.
"I was just looking at this white stuff. I never have seen anything like it before. I wonder what it is called and if it only is in this world." Donald and Goofy exchange looks with each other.
"It's snow. It's frozen rain."
"Snow? Oh, I heard of snow before. It snows on the bigger island north of home. My island is to far south for snow." I pick up more and lick it. "It's like ice isn't?"
"You never have seen snow before?"
"It's too warm on the island." Hmmm… I wonder if it's true you can throw snow after forming it into a ball. I start trying to form a ball as Goofy and Donald wander off. I notice that they were whispering again. Some times when I slip out something I didn't know, they would whisper softly together. I got the snow packed into the shape of a ball. I pitched it at a tree that was nearby. It missed the tree but got Donald in the head. As my eyes widen in horror, he sputters and spins around.
"You… You.." I look down in shame. It's rude to hit your friend with snow, right?
"I'm sorry. I was aiming for a tr…" My apologize was interrupted by a snowball hitting my face. I look to see Donald with a grin on his face. He already has snow in his hands forming another ball. I bent down and start forming one too. Donald and I started throwing the balls at each other, while Goofy hid behind a tree. The snowball fight lasted for over an hour. In the end, I was coughing from the cold with sweat freezing to my skin.
"Are you okay?" asked Goofy, with no snow on him. I nod at him, noticing Donald coming up behind him. Donald threw the snow on him and I let out a laugh. Goofy shook the snow off then stated. "Let's get you somewhere warm." We sludge back to the cave where Donald started a fire.
"Thank you for allowing me to play in the snow for a while."
Donald laughed. "No problem. Everyone needs to play in the snow once."
The next day we will go back to trying to save the world and finding Riku and Kairi. But, right now, I will live in this little moment.
a/n: I tried recalling my first time seeing snow but I'm not sure if I portray Sora's feelings for seeing snow for the first time. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't snow on Destiny Island. It seems to be a tropical island, anyway. Does anyone have any good snow stories?
