And as Sora stepped through the door, and in a burst of light…
He was home again.
His heart sank, and his breath escaped his lips. No, no no. This couldn't be real.
But there it all was: The trees, the ocean, the salty scent in the air. It was all too familiar, and all to real.
"Whoa…" He managed to choke out, under his breath.
Sora began to step forward, fearful that if he made one too-sudden movement, everything would break apart. He scooped a handful of sand and let it fall through his fingers.
He turned around to look at Donald and Goofy, and smiled. "Guys.. T-this is my home."
But Donald and Goofy didn't look so sure.
No Heartless, no Ansem, and no…
Riku or Kairi.
And that's when it all sunk in - this wasn't his home. At one point in Sora's fourteen years, his Island was all he knew.
The sand, the coves, the hidden treasures. It was his Island against the world.
And though everything looked the same, something in the air just didn't hit Sora the right way. The air was thick and musky, not much different than the dark world that he was in only a few moments ago.
Was it… an Illusion?
Sora constantly dreamt of going back to his home island. But instead of Donald and Goofy, it would be Sora and Kairi. The feeling of joy and serenity would wash over him, and all would be good.
But as he continued to walk down the Island, the feeling of Darkness grew thicker and thicker.
And that's when Sora realized, this was not one of his dreams. He had stepped into a nightmare.
"Look at this tiny place…
To the heart seeking freedom, this island is a prison surrounded by water…
And so, this boy sought to escape his prison, and he opened his heart to Darkness."
