He feels it again. The pull to the light. Like a beacon in the dark, she is there to light his path. A ray of sunshine. Her light is blinding. It scorches his eyes. And yet, he does not look away. The light, no matter how much it burns, is too beautiful, too precious to let out of his sight.
The Force. He senses it. Feels it through his fingertips. His hand trembles ever so slightly. He's been holding it out for so long. He looks into her eyes, recognizes himself in them. She is strong with the Force. Just like him. He imagines just how strong they could be together. If only she would take his hand.
She eyes him warily. He can tell she does not fully trust him. But who is there left to trust? As of now, they are both outcasts, looking for their right path. Up until now, they had moved in two opposite directions. Up until now, the paths they had taken had only led to destruction. Perhaps it was time to try something new.
She clenches and unclenches her left fist again and again as she contemplates her decision. Then, slowly, she reaches out. Her fingertips brush his and she lets out a small gasp. "Don't be afraid," he whispers. "I feel it too."
"The Force," she whispers back and he nods. They can feel it growing stronger. She lets him take her hand. Their fingers interlock and the Force flows through the both of them like a bloodstream. It is a give and take – an exchange of energy, filling them both with renewed strength. Their eyes meet and they know exactly what the other is thinking. From now on, they are linked. They are one with the Force. A force to be reckoned with.
What do you know, my first Reylo fic! I have to confess that I've been aboard this ship for over a year now and I can't wait to see more of them in episode VIII. This fic was inspired by the last scene in the trailer when Kylo reaches out to Rey. Because come on, who else would it be? It's been confirmed that they have a connection and they're basically like Yin and Yang. I believe they will bring balance to the Force. Hopefully I will be inspired to write some more Reylo fics once I've seen the movie. I already have my tickets! :D
