Only three more episodes left for my little series. This one might get you a little teary-eyed. So hold on to your tissues. Just a warning.
Evie walked outside into the courtyard and joined Mal at the lunch table. Normally, she would sit with Doug but today was her Birthday, and she wanted to finally be with Mal for her birthday for the first time. Mal had never been invited to her Birthday parties on the Isle of the Lost.
"Hey, M!"
Mal looked up at Evie, and sang, "Happy Birthday to you!"
Suddenly Carlos popped up. "Happy Birthday to you!"
Jay then stood up. "Happy Birthday dear Evie!"
Then Doug shot up from behind the table. "Happy Birthday to you!"
Evie laughed. "I bet it took you all day to plan that. Thanks you guys."
Doug pulled a large, brown, burlap sack. "All of your presents are in here."
Mal pulled out a long, blue dress, a small tiara, and a bag of chocolate chip cookies. "Happy Birthday Evie! I made the cookies, Ben gave the tiara, and Lonnie made the dress."
Evie stood up and pressed the dress to her body. "It's beautiful! Thank you guys!"
Jay and Carlos pulled out two Snowglobes, both of them resembling a moment where Evie had first interacted with Jay, Carlos, and Mal on the Isle. There was one of Jay holding her ruby necklace, and Mal pushing her into a closet. Another one had Carlos and Evie lying on a bed watching his TV. Evie smiled.
Carlos pulled out two music boxes. "Jane and Audrey gave you these." Evie played both of them. One played, "I'm Wishing", the other, "Heigh Ho". Evie grinned.
"Tell them thank you. You really didn't need to do this!"
"We wanted to," Doug whispered into her ear, "we couldn't let your Birthday pass without a celebration. The next one is from me." Doug handed her a mirror. On the top it said, "Fairest", but on the bottom it said, "Smartest". "Do you like it?" Doug asked.
Evie looked at herself in the mirror. "It's the best gift of them all! I love it Doug," she giggled as she gave a tender peck on the cheek.
"This last one is from Chad," Doug said, handing her an apple with a little From Chad tag wrapped around it.
Evie smiled. "It's nice of him to think of me." She had still been wary around Chad, and a Birthday gift might be how he planned to woo her back in so she could do his homework for him. He's with Lonnie now, she thought. Evie took a large bite out of the apple.
"How is it?" asked Mal.
"It's really sweet. It's good." Evie smiled. Suddenly, her heart started racing. She dropped the apple and clutched a hand to her chest, gasping for breath.
"E, what's wrong?" Mal stood up, concerned.
"Really, bad, heartburn!" Evie rasped in between breaths.
"Oh my God!" Mal screamed as her best friend collapsed onto the ground, still gasping for breath.
Mal and Doug started sobbing into Evie's hair. Jay looked at Carlos. "Carlos, go get Fairy Godmother. I've got to get the infirmary." Jay jogged back to the building. Carlos ran in the opposite direction.
Doug looked up towards the sky and solemnly stated, "If Chad isn't sent to the Isle for this then I'll kill him myself!"
I'm so evil that I would leave you with a cliffhanger like that. You'll have to find out what happens to Evie and Chad in the next episode. And please don't kill me until you read the next segment. Then you'll never know what will happen. You'll be wondering for the rest of your life. Just wondering. Just kidding. But seriously though, don't kill me.
