Author's Note: Ok, I know Quicksilver wasn't in the films but he should'a been and I had this idea racing around in my head as I tried to write Sleeping With the Enemy and just had to get it down on paper. Well… Virtual paper…

A Father's Observation
A long blue arm stretched elegantly out from where Mystique sat in the centre of the room, legs crossed in an uncomfortable looking position, although the shapeshifter looked perfectly at ease. Her calm demeanour disappeared quickly however as noise came from the corridor outside.
"Erik," she blinked in surprise as Magneto appeared in the doorway. "You're back early."
The Brotherhood leader waved a dismissive hand.
"Things went better than expected," he shrugged before arching an eyebrow. "Was that Quicksilver's car I saw on the way in here?"
Mystique's eyes widened ever so slightly but she nodded calmly.
"Yes. Quicksilver's here."
"Oh. Why?" Magneto turned and looked down the corridor, noticing light coming from one of the rooms at the far end. Mystique cursed as suddenly Magneto disappeared from the doorway. Untangling herself quickly she clambered to her feet, scurrying after Magneto, catching him just as he approached the room in question. Mystique took a deep breath as Magneto stopped dead just outside the doorway, bracing herself for an outburst but to her surprise he stayed silent. Frowning slightly Mystique looked into the room. Sure enough Pietro was where she had last seen him – on the sofa watching a movie. The blonde sat, side on to the doorway, curled up against John's chest, the fire mutant's arms wrapped loosely around Pietro's shoulders, one of his own arms draped over the knee John had pulled up by his side. Both appeared to be oblivious to the two newcomers standing in the doorway, too wrapped up in the movie – and/or each other – to notice. Mystique inhaled apprehensively as she noticed Magneto's eyebrow arch.
"Mystique my dear," he said in that unnaturally calm voice he had. "My son is sitting still."
Mystique blinked rapidly as she processed the male's words. That had not been what she was expecting…
"He's been sitting still for about an hour," she replied casually, albeit a little tentatively.
"Really?" Magneto raised both brows as he regarded the two mutants within the room for a moment. "Huh."
The Brotherhood leader turned quietly and carried on down the corridor. Mystique's eyes widened in surprise as she watched him go, for a long moment her gaze following his departure even after he had disappeared from sight. Finally a faint smile pulled on her lips as she shook her head and turned to make her way back to her yoga, casting one last glance in at the now not so secret lovers…
