So Trowa Barton was found.

Lucrezia Noin studied the boy standing beside and slightly behind Quatre. Determination set his jaw, but his eyes... His eyes were lost. Unless they rested upon Quatre, and then she saw the tension around Trowa's eyes ease, his posture loosen. But as soon as he looked away—at the Sandrock Gundam and the two Taurus suits in the shuttle's bay—he was lost again.

She barely recognised him, and she knew he didn't recognise her. Antarctica was a lifetime ago, and this boy was but a ghost of the self-assured and outspoken young pilot she'd known then. He'd said some unkind things to her, things she'd resented, but with time had come to appreciate.

"Trowa," she said and extended her hand. "We've met before."

He took her hand and searched her face. "Quatre told me."

"All right," she smiled. "You're welcome to stay with us—such as things are." Trowa looked at her blankly, still holding her hand. Until Quatre rested a hand on Trowa's arm to draw the boy's attention. Something passed between them, not words, not a look either, but something both more basic and more strange.

Trowa released her hand and smiled faintly at Quatre.

Quatre's response was amazing—relief and open adoration flooded his smile. It made Trowa's smile broaden, brightening his severe features. And it made Lucrezia feel like an intruder into something intensely private, something as intimate as a moment between lovers.

"I'll be in the cockpit," she said. Quatre acknowledged her words without looking at her, his eyes only for Trowa's smile.

She glanced back as the bay door slid closed behind her to see the two boys embracing. She smiled too, broadly enough to match the boys. In this war, she was grateful for a happy ending—this joyful reunion. Even more, she was glad she'd been permitted to witness it.
