Loss of Willpower

Adventuring. That's what Mac liked to do most. He had joined Wigglytuff's guild a month or so ago. He could have joined before, but he didn't have the courage. That is, until he met Ike. Actually, it was more like he found Ike.

Mac and Ike had many adventures, in which they made new friends and found some treasure. There even was this one time when they fought a big pokemon they hadn't seen before, called Groundon, and it turned out to be an illusion.

Right now, they were exploring the Crystal Cave, where Dusknoir told them that they'd find a Time Gear. There was news of a thief stealing the Time Gears, so they hoped they could get there before this thief was there.

Ike was leading the way. He had a thing for sensing aura, since he was a Riolu. He could easily spot enemies without seeing them, and take evasive or offensive action. Mac guarded the back. He could use his electric attacks to easily send enemies flying. Pikachu's weren't known for their defense, but with Mac's speed, this wasn't much of an issue.

"Um, Ike?" Mac called. Ike turned around and looked at him. "I think I saw the way to the next floor over there." Mac pointed at the small walkway they passed. Ike nodded, and the proceeded to the stairs.

Ike didn't talk much. He just got lost in thought sometimes, and when he needed something, or was trying to tell something, he'd use body language. It was, at times, a bit difficult to understand Ike, but Mac did his best to understand.

"Whoa!" Mac exclaimed, overwhelmed by the gigantic cave they had entered. The cave walls had crystals oozing out if them. And the floor was not as rough as the crystals, it was smooth and glass-like.

Dusknoir had told them they'd find a pokemon called Azelf here. Mac and Ike looked around, only to be greeted by the sight of the thief, a green pokemon with a red belly they had seen on the wanted posters, beating up a floating creature with 2 tails.

"For the Time Gear!" said the green pokemon, slamming the floating the blue creature into the wall, only the kill her.

Little did they know the one killed was Azelf, the Being of Willpower, the one who gave them determination.

The green pokemon proceeded to take the Time Gear. Mac and Ike would have lunged forward to stop the thief, but instead, they just watched him take it.

Dusknoir sensed something bad was happening, but he didn't actually want to go check it out. He wanted to stay in Treasure Town, in his cozy little tavern.

Ike took an Escape Orb from his pack and held it in his hand, using it to teleport him and Mac to the guild.

They saw everyone sitting around when they were at the guild. No one even bothered asking them how it went. It appeared as if something was happening in Treasure Town too, none of the shops were open, no one was around.

Meanwhile, the green pokemon was on his way to his temporary base camp, hoping to return to the future. But he stopped in his tracks.

He didn't want to restore the world's balance. He didn't want to go all the way back to the future, and then go to where the Time Gears were supposed to be placed, and place them. He sat down, observing time stop around him.

Mac and Ike were back in the guild, watching the world around them turn gray, water droplets stopping in mid-air. They should have done something about it.

But they just didn't feel like it.
