It's been two years since Haruka graduated from high school, and left the Iwatobi swim club. He hasn't touched water since. After all, who would after watching the death of their best friend?
Now twenty, Haru feels he's got a pretty decent hold on things. The closest he comes to water is showering, and of course his job at the marine wildlife park. For someone who avoids water, one would think he's crazy for working in a place covered with it. But the establishment has Orcas; the one thing he feels brings him closer to Makoto.
He can breathe, and finally be content with a life lacking substance. That is, until a certain Matsuoka rolls back into town; and with a new man on his arm. Who he can't stop throwing in Haru's face.
Everywhere he turns, somehow he finds Rin. Now challenged with the burden of unrequited love he'd thought was long lost, and his best friend unable to help him through it a second time, how will Haru even begin to cope?
Will he ever be able to let go of Makoto? And face the fact that he harbors feelings for Rin?
