Today was going to be the day. No backing down, no stuttering, just be blunt. The blonde couldn't help but pace the school courtyard waiting for a certain football headed teen to come out.
As if on cue Arnold exited the school doors with Gerald at his side. This was what Helga had expected of course, the two boys had been by eachothers side since they were kids. She waited for the two to part ways before walking up to him.
He turned his head, his green eyes finding Helga's blue ones. The girl coud feel her cheeks warm and mentally face palmed at how dumb she probably looked standing there.
"Oh hi Helga, whats up?" Arnold flashed a small smile her way making her heart flutter a bit.
The two had been on pretty ok terms for about two years now. Helga would still have her lighthearted teasing, but most of the time kept to herself. Arnold couldn't lie he kind of missed having Helga around even if she was constantly picking at him or had an attitude. The gang was missing something once she stopped hanging out with them.
"Look Arnold I have so-something...something I need to say." She mentally cursed herself for stuttering.
Arnold raised a brow at the usually calm girl. Sure Helga had her moments but she usually held her demeanor, especially as of these later years.
"Could you meet me tomorrow beside that old tree in the park?" She avoided his eyes now, afraid of what she'd see. Yup definitely something weird going on.
"Sure Helga, we can walk there after school." Arnold, thinking nothing of it, smiled and shoved his hands in his pockets.
Helga finally looked up at him. She wondered how he could always be so calm and collective, no matter the situation.
His phone beeped, bringing Helga out of her thoughts.
"Oh sorry Helga I better get home, its time for Abners walk, see ya!" He turned on his heel and walked, heading to the boarding house.
Helga let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She turned smiling big and skipping all the way home as if she were a little girl again.
