James and Percy were talking to each other one warm and sunny afternoon at Edward's Station. It was fairly busy, but no one paid heed to the two engines.

They were discussing to themselves when Edward rolled past with some empty trucks who were singing very annoying and rude songs about him being old.

"Poor Edward." Said Percy.

"Yeah, those trucks need to learn manners! At least the cattle feeder trucks are nice. They and Hector are the only trucks I can tolerate!"

"How well do you get along with the cattle trucks, James?" Asked Percy.

"Oh, very well indeed!" James boasted. "They are my friends, you see!"

"I see." Said Percy, thoughtfully. "But I'm friends with them too!" He added excitedly.

"Really?" Asked James, who sounded cynical, but was actually very surprised.

"If you don't believe me, I'll show you!" The little green engine told him, before puffing away.

...

Once Percy reached the goods yard, he collected two of the cattle feeder trucks and then headed off back to Edward's Station.

He blew his whistle loudly on returning to the station.

"I'm back!"

"Alright, so how did you come to get along with them?"

Percy smiled.

"Well, I first met them when you were sick, and then when I next took them out, we became friends!" The green saddle tank explained.

James was happy, for he and Percy could talk about the 'animal feeders' and not get confused.
