CHAPTER ONE
I had always wanted to be psychic. To see the future, or ghosts or something paranormal. It always fascinated me, and I even wanted to make a career out of hypnotic past regression. It caught my eye, and never left.
Unfortunately, people don't always get what they want, and so I wasn't psychic. I had hoped I would be, like my sister, but mine was no such luck. I would never get my dream, it was impossible, I knew. Then Sade came along.
Sade was the type of person who girls fell to their feet for. He had shaggy black hair, covering brown eyes so deep you could fall into him. He was tall, around 5'8, which made him the perfect height. He had the perfect body, muscular but soft. Hell, everything about him seemed to be perfect.
I didn't like him though. I was one of the few who saw through his looks, and knew he was an ass. He treated girls like crap, and never failed to make fun of someone. It wasn't even the nerdy kids, like most people would expect. It was people he considered too immature. Because, in his eyes, he was mature, because he was a senior. He was self-conceited. And I honestly hated the guy.
I used to have a crush on him, any sane person would. But as I got to know him, and "observe him in his natural surroundings," as Jacelyn liked to say, I lost all attraction towards him. I saw him for who he truly was, and I based looks on personality. His ugly hatred towards anyone not cool enough for him made him the ugliest person I had ever seen.
Jacelyn is not only my best friend, but Sade's brother. She agrees with his need for an attitude adjustment, though claims he's always been a good big brother. I have my doubts. Whenever we had sleepovers and Sade was there, he treated me like dirt. He'd make sneer comments that only I could hear, and he even broke a vase and blamed it on me. I was banned from the Krenton house for a week because of it.
I thought I wouldn't help Sade if my life depended on it. I'd rather die than help him, he didn't deserve any help. But I didn't know that very soon, I'd be faced with a situation that would no doubt change my life forever. And I wouldn't have made my decision without the help of Sade, the last person I expected to help me through anything.
Especially considering Sade was dead.
