Happy Birthday
A soft knock on her bedroom door woke her and Ginny opened her eyes to find Harry standing in her room.
"I'm sorry, I thought you might be awake," he apologised, "I wanted to be the first to say Happy Birthday."
"Thanks," she replied groggily.
"I also wanted to give you your present whilst we were alone."
This was enough to rouse her. Ginny was hoping Harry would choose today to propose. She had been dropping hints for weeks.
Harry fumbled inside his robes and pulled out a small black box.
"Do you like them?" He asked eagerly.
Ginny's face fell as she stared at the small diamond earrings.
Quickly trying to mask her disappointment, she murmured an almost inaudible, "yes."
