Not a Good Phone Voice
"Me get it mama?" Sloan asked excitedly as Jackie's phone rang.
"Sure bud, go ahead." Jackie said as she grabbed it and slid the talk button on and then handed it to Sloan.
"Hello?" Sloan said sounding like an adult.
A few moments of silence passed before he said.
"Yeah, mama is here."
A few more moments of silence and then
"Yeah, you can talk to her, what do you want?"
Jackie lunged for the phone, she hadn't thought to look to see who it was before she gave Sloan the phone and now she regretted that.
"Hello?" Jackie asked.
"Hi Jackie." Jane answered.
"Hi Jane, sorry about that, Sloan really wanted to answer the phone."
Jane laughed.
"That's ok, I was wondering which of the kiddos that was."
Jackie laughed, grateful that Jane was so patient with kids.
"I was just calling because I saw that you called me yesterday and I missed your call. Sorry about that." Jane said
"Oh, no big deal, I was just calling to say thank you for all the books. My kids love them."
"You're welcome, I think your students will like them too this next school year."
"Yeah, I think they will too, thanks again."
"No problem, hey I'm getting another call so can I call you back a little later tonight?" Jane asked.
"Sure, and when you call back I'll answer instead of letting one of the kids do it."
Jane laughed.
"Alright sounds good, talk to you soon, bye."
After the call had been disconnected Jackie shook her head, there was just never any telling what was going to come out of her kids' mouths at any given moment.
