Avatar of the 8

Earth

Prologue

My name… no, I'm not going to tell you my name, at least not yet. You may refer to me as the Phantom Fox for now. I know that name probably has no meaning to you and maybe even sounds comical, but in my world, it's a name that struck fear into the hearts of the fearless. It's a name that became known far and wide as that of a hero (or a terror depending on your point of view). It's a name-

It's a name that I am way too proud of.

Sorry about that; I can have a big ego at times. Even when I'm not bragging, I have trouble talking about anything other than me. Like right now: I'm not bragging anymore, but I'm still talking about me. I'll bet that's not why you came here; seeing the title and the genre of this story, you probably came here looking for a story about Avatar Aang, Water Master Katara, and the rest of the old avatar gang. Well, this story isn't about the old Avatar gang, though they are mentioned; this is about the next generation.

Now please, help me out here. Knowing my ego, I'm going to want to make this story about me. And that's understandable to a point: I am the only electricity bender in the entire story, not to mention the only "super hero" my world has ever known, and I was the head of the rebellion against the Earth Empire, and I-

HEY! DID YOU JUST PINCH ME? No, you're right, I was bragging again. But good job, that's exactly what I want you to do; don't let me talk about me except when it's appropriate, and even then, don't let me overdo it. Because really this story is not about me, no matter how much I'd rather talk about me. To be brutally honest, I was a little overwhelmed; I had enemies everywhere, there was only one of me, and I was… ten years old at the time.

Yeah, that last tidbit is still somewhat embarrassing. Well, with any luck it'll keep me humble for a while. Anyway, now that you've agreed to help me control myself, let's get to it. Oh, but for future reference, next time I start talking about myself, could you just tap my shoulder or something? Pinches hurt.
