Hello everyone! It's me Moonshine Orchids. It's been a while since I have decided to work on a Metal Fight Beyblade story. So I am kicking off 2019 with my first story, which is a short story series between my two MFB OCs Ninel and Dalia. I want to reintroduce them in a different way, and I want the readers to know more about them first. I present to you the first short story in my mini story series, Seoul Stories.
I: The First Encounter
"6 minutes and 20 seconds! You need to go fucking faster than that!" yelled an older male voice.
Inside the swimming pool, a tan-skinned teenage girl swam up towards the ground. She had on a viridian green colored racerback one-piece swimsuit and a white colored swim cap. The teenager wore a pair of black swim goggles to protect her eyes from the chlorinated water. She stared at the old Korean man while he continued to berate her in his native tongue. The girl didn't say a single word to the old man, but her facial expression said it all.
She didn't mind the berating, but her current time was considered to be a slight improvement. But the old man didn't care about that at all. He wanted to push her even harder in a dangerous manner. Ninel was aware of what kind of standards South Korea has when it comes to competitions and in even everyday life. Unfortunately, the 16 year old wasn't positive about her current swim coach.
"No, because I am not going to deal with this anymore Coach Heo," said Ninel.
With those final words, Ninel walked away from her former coach and walked towards the locker rooms. Coach Heo watched in disgust at the Russian-Burmese teenager who decided to abandon him. He muttered a few curse words in Korean while he walked away from the Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Coach Heo stated, "I don't need that stupid girl because I will find my prodigious swimmer in no time."
Minutes after leaving the famous Jamsil Indoor Swimming Pool, Ninel had on a fresh set of clothes, and she was ready to go. She texted her stepfather about what happened with her and Coach Heo. She also informed him about a potential hiatus from competitive swimming. Since she left early, the Russian-Burmese girl decided to take a pit stop at the famous Starfield COEX Mall. It was one of the teen's favorite spots in her hometown of Seoul. On her way to Sports Complex Station, her amber colored eyes noticed a confused teenager. She was about the same age as her or possibly younger than her.
Ninel listened to the teen's broken Korean as she was trying to ask for directions. The teen was a light tan skinned girl with honey blonde hair and dark brown colored eyes. She was wearing a gold-colored buttoned down sequined collared sleeveless blouse on with a pair of black dress shorts that reaches a little above her knees. The girl also had on some dark red tights underneath her shorts. Her hair was in a stylish high ponytail that held by a dark red hair ribbon. Ninel then noticed the launcher and holsters on the tourist's belt.
"Who would have thought that this girl was a blader?" said Ninel to herself.
The Eurasian teenager shrugged off that thought off and decided to approach the tourist. As for the tourist, the honey blonde haired girl groaned as she watched as another Korean local walked passed by more. All she wanted was directions to the mall, but no one was able to understand her. Dalia didn't know why she decided to sneak out of her hotel room. The 15 year old blonde girl watched a dark red-brown haired girl walking in her direction. She didn't look like any of the Koreans that tried to help her.
"I hope I don't screw this up," she said to herself.
She waved towards the dark auburn-haired teenager to get her attention. The amber-eyed Eurasian blinked as she watched the nicely dress girl waving at her. Ninel approached the blonde haired girl to see what she wanted. The honey blonde haired girl looked up her phone to see what question that she could ask her first.
Dalia asked, "Sillyehajiman yeongeo haseyo?"
"Ne," replied Ninel.
The blonde haired teen wondered, "Ne means yes, right?"
"Yeah. By the way, my name is Ninel Morozova," replied the dark reddish-brown haired teenager.
The other teen responded, "My name Dalia Puente, and I'm here in Seoul for a beyblade tournament. But I'm trying to find out how to get to the Starfield COEX Mall."
"I'm going there too. We can both go there together if you want since I can tell you're not too familiar around the area," insisted Ninel.
Dalia was surprised by the auburn-haired teen's suggestion. The only thing that she expected was getting better directions to the mall. But she could tell that Ninel has good intentions in helping her get to her location safely. It wasn't like her to accept a stranger's request, but the Argentine-Greek teen noticed something else about the Eurasian teenager. Dalia saw the holsters and launcher on Ninel's right side. The honey blonde haired teen knew right off the bat that Ninel was blader just like her.
The 15 year old Argentine-Greek blader didn't want to talk about it. Both teens met each other just now, and Dalia was grateful of Ninel's nice deed. She's still a stranger to the auburn-haired teenager no matter what. The two teenagers noticed the station that was in front of them.
"This is the Sports Complex Station. You can take either the Line 2 or Line 9 Subway to get to the COEX Mall," stated Ninel.
Dalia asked, "What subway line do you usually take Ninel?'
"The Line 9 Subway that goes to Gimpo Airport Station. But we are going to be stopping at Bongeunsa Station since it's not that far from the mall," replied the Eurasian teen.
For a foreigner like herself, Dalia was impressed with Ninel's knowledge of the area. The Argentine-Greek blader assumed that one of Ninel's relatives are from South Korea. The two teenagers walked into the subway station. Dalia looked into her small black backpack and pulled out a card from her bag. She knew for the most part that she could use this card for any of the subway lines in Seoul.
"The host of the beyblade tournament gave me this T-Money card so I can use to travel around Seoul. They say it's better for us this card because they say that it's more expensive to use cash," said Dalia.
Ninel replied, "That is true, and I'm glad that they gave all their participants a special T-Money card for tourism purposes."
Dalia and Ninel both walked towards a machine to see what was their cards' balance was. Both girls reloaded their T-Money cards with some extra money. They saw that they had more than enough won in their cards. Dalia glanced over at the sign to see where she was going. She noticed the English names below the Korean names of the station and arrows pointing that direction. Even though Ninel was guiding her around the subway line, Dalia hopes that she'll be familiar with this area.
The teens used their T-Money cards when they saw the turnstile sensors. They beeped, and both girls were able to move on forward. Neither girl said a word since they talked about the T-Money cards. Ninel looked over at a subway way that was in front of her. It was for a well-known sports clothing brand. She looked over at the female model for a clothing brand. A small smile formed on her face before she continued walking alongside Dalia.
Ninel and Dalia waited patiently for the subway. There was a good number of people waiting for the same train. The wait wasn't much since the train comes every 12 minutes or so. Luckily the girls had to wait less than 12 minutes for their train to Bongeunsa Station. Both teens managed to get a pair of good seats before anyone else. Dalia was surprised to see that many people in the same subway as everyone else. Her dark brown colored eyes looked down at the clean floors.
"I can't say that I'm surprised by how clean the subway floors are," said Dalia.
Ninel replied, "I know right. We are almost at Bongeunsa Station by the way."
The Argentine-Greek blader nodded her head, and the two girls stand up. Once the train stopped at Bongeunsa Station, both girls walked out of the train and headed out of the subway station. The girls were back in the streets once again. While the two girls were walking together, Ninel looked over a familiar-looking older man. The man was no older than his late 40s, and he has black hair and green eyes. He had on a navy blue business suit on and black dress shoes.
"Ninel, I got your text message just now. I was hoping that we can talk about what happened with Coach Heo and your possible hiatus in competitive swimming," said the older man.
Ninel replied, "Sure thing father."
"Who's your friend by the way?" wondered Ninel's father.
Dalia said, "My name is Dalia Puente sir. Your daughter was kind enough to take me to the COEX Mall since I got lost."
"It was nothing since I was also heading out there because I wanted to get something there quickly from the mall," explained Ninel, "but I do want to show Dalia a couple of my favorite stores in the mall."
Her father replied, "That's good, and I hope you don't mind joining us for dinner Dalia."
"That would be nice since I have been eating convenience store food for the last two days," stated Dalia.
Ninel's step-father nodded and took note of that before taking his leave. Ninel was somewhat surprised that the conversation ended well. Dalia looked over at the Eurasian teen and wondered what he was talking about earlier with her father.
"I didn't know that man was your father," she said to Ninel.
Ninel replied, "Technically, he's my step-father. My mother married him about three years after my biological father's death."
"Your step-father seems like a good person," answered Dalia.
The Eurasian teen responded, "He is a great person honestly."
Dalia and Ninel walked together to the mall, which was a few blocks down. The honey blonde haired blader was thinking about what Ninel said earlier to her father. She didn't know that Ninel was a competitive swimmer and that she was planning to take a possible hiatus from swimming after firing her swim coach. Dalia frowned as she thought about the things that led to her to this sudden trip to Seoul.
She wanted to drown those thoughts out before the upcoming beyblade tournament. Her dark brown eyes shifted towards Ninel. The dark auburn-haired teenager had a smile on her face despite admitting the truth to her father. Dalia wanted to know why Ninel was trying to fake that kind of emotion. She sighed and looked over at the mall in front of her. They finally made it to the Starfield COEX Mall.
That ends the first short story of Seoul Stories. These short stories will be about 1,000 to 2000+ words and they will be focusing on the start of Ninel and Dalia's friendship. I also want to mention that these stories happen before the events of MFB Explosion/Metal Masters and the beyblade tournament is not related to tournaments prior to Big Bang Bladers Tournament/Beyblade World Championships. There will be some Korean words in the story that will have translations in the bottom unless I mentioned within the story. SO I really hope that you enjoyed this story. For now, read and review.
