Private turned on the television, hoping to catch the latest episode of Lunacorns. What he found instead was a different show that was airing. Private looked puzzled. Lunacorns always aired at this time of the day. What could have happened? He decided to ask Kowalski to see if he knew anything about the change.
"From what I heard, the Lunacorns were cancelled. People stopped watching it and they've replaced it with a new show," Kowalski explained. Private frowned.
"But I loved watching the Lunacorns! Oh, Kowalski, this is terrible! What did they even replace it with?"
"Some new anime called 'Fabulous Girl Yume', I think."
"Um... what's an anime?"
Kowalski sighed and started to explain. "An anime is an animation that originates from Japan. Many anime characters, but certainly not all of them, have huge bug eyes, tiny noses, small mouths, and unnaturally colored hair. If you saw any of that, then you saw an anime. Or at least a western cartoon ripping off Japanese animation."
"But why would they replace my favorite show with an anime?" Private cried out.
"Well, a lot of people enjoy watching anime, Private. Many anime have deep, overarching storylines, complex plots, and intriguing characters. But then there are people who watch it for... eye candy."
"Eye candy?"
"Er, forget what I said. Anyway, Private, you could give this new show a chance. Who knows? You might end up becoming a fan."
Private let out a deep sigh. "All right, Kowalski, I'll watch just one episode and that's it. But I'll doubt it'll be anywhere near as good as Lunacorns."
Private slowly reached for the on button on the television. He pressed it, and Fabulous Girl Yume came on. Private reluctantly started to watch.
