The Girl Frozen in Time
(Inspired by the movie Alice: Through the Looking Glass)
I have just recently re-watched the second Alice in Wonderland movie and that moment when everyone is frozen made me think about how long they were stuck like that. In this story time never actually stops we have only lost the ability to measure it.
This is not a story of a princess who was cursed for no wrong doing of their own, nor is she saved by a prince. But, she is saved by true love. This is a story of girl whose misfortunes come about by her lack of faith and unwillingness to believe in the impossible. This is the story/legend of the day a single girl froze time for entire world and help came from an unsuspecting person a world away. Just because time stopped in one world does not mean it stopped in another.
Troubles in her world led her to a friend in another. She followed the strange and peculiar, but familiar blue butterfly through the mirror and into Wonderland. There she found her dearest friend fading away because no one believed him, they all thought the Mad Hatter had truly gone mad, but he knew his Alice would believe and help him save his family. If only she had then she would not have set in motion the events that would break history and stop time.
Frozen they would have remained, the Chronosphere just out of reach of its stand had it not been for the love of a mother in another world. Mrs. Kingsleigh stood just outside the home of the Ascot's wishing and praying with all her might for her daughter to hurry with what she was doing and to stop her from going forward with this sad decision that would take away yet another piece of her late husband from her daughter. It was that wish for time to move that sent a spark through the rust of Time and gave the Chronosphere the magnetic pull it needed to restore the flow of time.
To this day none of them know how long they were frozen in time, to them it seemed as if only a moment had passed and Time let them believe so. There was no need for them to know that centuries had passed them by while they waited for a mother's plea for her daughter to hurry home to reach them. Time looked on as Alice said her goodbyes and stepped through the mirror to her own world where only hours have passed. Her time in Underland had come to its end but time with her friends would come again when time ended for both worlds. And that time was now approaching much soon than any of them would ever know.
"Sometimes I feel like if you just watch things, just sit still and let the world exist in front of you - sometimes I swear that just for a second time freezes and the world pauses in its tilt. Just for a second. And if you somehow found a way to live in that second, then you would live forever."
